The Mail is crowing today because 100,000 people have deactivated their Facebook accounts because they are bored with the website. In the article it states there are 30million Facebook users in this country so 100,000 represents about 0.3% drop in users. According to the latest newspaper sales figures the DM has seen sales drop by 1.6%, does this mean that the DM is more boring than Facebook?

Leaving Facebook? You can try... but 'evil genius' social network won't make it easy

But even then you will still have a presence on the website if any of your Facebook friends continue to put up photos of you.

So there would be nothing to stop your friends uploading photos of you on your stag do, skinny-dipping, or at graduation celebrations.

I wonder if Mail online would bar all (now let's see) Suri Cruise content on the strength of a single e-mail?

"Facebook Ladette" WTF is that all about? The only connection with Facebook is that she used it before committing the robbery.

The journos at The Mail better take care. They spend all their days trawling Facebook to get hold of copyright free pictures of the latest teenage murder victim, murder suspect and any other poor sod who's in the news.

Jilted bride-to-be hanged herself after writing on Facebook that her wedding had been called off
It's only a very minor part of a sad story and not involved in her suicide, but it's mentioned in the headline and first paragraph anyway.

But presumably it's still OK for DM "journalists" to trawl social networking sites for stories and pictures?

As the article says "'Just because they can do something like this online, doesn't mean they should.'

Because he's not yet king of the world, perhaps?

More Facebook bullshit

Facebook is 'building shadow profiles of NON-users', says complaint to privacy watchdog

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/ ... hdog.html#

Of course Facebook deny all the allegations... but the Mail still run the story anyway.

They'd met in 2004, so Facebook hasn't really anything to do with it.

Employers already snoop on Facebook accounts during job applications - but could they DEMAND passwords as well?

They manage to do this spot of scaremongering based on one sole application form that was photographed in America.

One picture, purportedly of a job application for a clerical position with the police in North Carolina, shows a demand for passwords for 'accounts such as Facebook, Myspace, etc'.

How can they make shadow profiles of people who don't use it? What balls.

Nope, what else do want to try and scare us with now?
I really am bored of this anti-Facebook shit. The only reason I could come up with for them hating it so much is that Facebook gives people around the world a free platform online to talk about anything they please, including what latest ridiculous piece of shit they've read in the paper...like the Mail. I'm amazed that they have yet to aim as much obvious hatred at Twitter, given the possibilities that holds for people.

They don't really hate it. They're just desperate to run stories about facebook (and X factor, and Tesco, and crap about dating) because their readers can 'relate' to these things. And the only type of stories the Mail knows how to run are a) cut and paste marketing release or b) DANGEROUTRAGEFURYCANCER!!!!!!
