Virgin Media, Tesco and Easyjet have pulled their advertising too. Good on them.

Am I the only one who feels a bit inadequate when I have to rely on faceless corporations to fight my fight.

It's a mixed emotion thing though.
I'm almost enjoying it as much as I enjoyed Alistair Cooke's batting in last winter's ashes tour.

Channel 4 News has alleged that the NOTW targeted the policeman investigating some investigators (linked to the NOTW) for murder.

The Met are allleged to have confronted the NOTW at a meeting, and it seems to have gone no further. The wife of the policeman (who used to present Crimewatch) has confirmed she was told she might have been hacked 2 months ago.

This is potentially even worse than the Dowler and Soham allegations.

Surely has to be a public enquiry, doesn't there?

Alas, no. A statement from Ford on BBC News 24 makes it clear that they are pulling advertising on NOTW, not the entire News International group.

Pathetic, Ford - not even close to good enough.

I saw something on the C4 News with all the opposition on their feet, but none of the government side.

Luckily John Bercow backed it.

He let Iain Duncan Smith off having to explain how he seems to have been denying stuff about homelessness though.

It is probably a practical and contractual impossibility for them to pull. They will have a deal right across NI, News Group, News International (Scotland) Ltd et al and which ties in to Sky annorll. I am nigh on certain that they will not have a "no-scandal" clause written in to the contract. Yet.

I would imagine that the commercial department at NI are working on damage limitation as we speak and helping them to shift money sideways so as to keep the relationship mutually cosy, placate the Twitterati and keep selling vehicles to punters whose standards are such that they are prepared to actually buy, or worse, have the screws delivered in the first place.

I doubt too that Ford will be able to demand Wade's head on a silver platter. When Rupe is attacked, he is forced to show the intense loyalty that he demands from others and will back "the family" - at least in public. Remember, this cunt has governments in his pocket so it unlikely to yield to a near-bankrupt auto maker.

Step forward Nero Coulson. And keep an eye on which way his thumb is edging towards. (And look at who is pulling the strings.)
