If the Mail and its readers hate Tesco so much, why is the reward for joining their Rewards Club this weekend a Tesco voucher? Wouldn't that imply Mailites shop there instead of at the charming little independent shops they profess to love so much?

Tesco fits the bill nicely for them. Example...

M&S - only if you have someont to impress, the kids don't deserve good stuff all the time
Waitrose - a bit too communist in its management style, communes and all that
Sainsburys - Jamie Oliver? A cockney? Are you mad?
Morrisons - a bit too eco and tree hugger about things
ASDA - only the plebs go there
Aldi / Lidl - only the REAL plebs go there
Co-op - socialist, eating their food will make you vote Labour
Local shops - mostly run by foriegners these days, with their ghastly ways. Probably don't even wash their hands before touching things.
Tesco - dynamic, thrusting British institution. Plus everything is blue. I like blue. Reminds me of the rosette I have on the sideboard.

The Mail is trying to big up the Tesco voucher but the NOTW has been issuing the same voucher for the last 2 months. It usually £5 off if you spend £30 or more.

This is the second one of these stories recently, I don't suppose it could be a possible publicity stunt?

Either that, or international computer hackers making themselves useful for once (err twice).

'It paid for my house - but it's full of chavs': Jane Horrocks doesn't like Tesco... despite starring in supermarket's adverts

The ones agreeing with her are in the red, strangely. Mailtes usually see the word "chavs" and weigh in, kicking and punching whoever it is being called a chav.

Ah, but Tescos is just about middle class enough for them to approve of it (slightly below Sainsburys and Morrisons of the big stores though). If it had been ASDA they'd have really weighed in.

Is Morrison's considered middle-class? I'd have put it below Tescos, probably on a par with ASDA, it's prices certainly seem cheaper than Tescos and I'm sure the Mailites don't like it 'cos it's Norfvan where the all Lefties are from'.

But it's done up like little shops, and that's trendy (probably). Plus they're always banging on about Britain, there's brownie points right there. I'd say in the eyes of the average Mailite it's well above ASDA, which is just above Aldi / Liddle in terms of lower classiness.

Also, as a result of a policy that appears to have been based on putting random celebrities' names into a tombola, it is advertised by Mail-readers favourite Richard Hammond, Lulu (who many ageing male Mail readers will no doubt have fond memories of banging one out to) and Diarmuid Gavin (who many middle-aged female readers would no doubt love to come round and have a root in their shrubbery).

Yes, but even the local lap dancing club is classier than Rod.

Damn, shows how often I have cause to type out these chav-infested shitholes. Although I hear they might be selling pot pourri and foie gras soon?

Supermarket snobbery is strange. Putting own brands to one side and just going with named brands (identical products) for a minute; paying more = classy, paying less = chavvy. :?

That's exactly what I was thinking, you think they'd be all in favour of saving a few pounds here and there in a cheaper place, to get one over on nasty Mr Sainsbury and Mr Tesco who want to take over Britain and everything (according to them).
