Also, by contemplating this scheme, isn't that an admittance by the Government that in some areas there are indeed not enough employment opportunities, an issue pointed out to successive governments over the years. The simplistic reply sometimes given to this is "there's work if you want it." If the Government want this scheme then they should have worded the whole project differently. It now looks like they're giving up on certain areas, which as well as being shitty they're also doing themselves no favours in the long run.

Good to see IDS using the EU suggestion of weight rather than numbers. Masks an actual headcount so nicely.

I'm new round here by the way. I come in peace.

I thought that sounded a bit odd aswell, could be a misquote

What the fuck is Berlusconi doing in that Picture?
I imagine him saying "Look! I'm Jackie Chan".

Moving to the bottom (No not you Mister Berlusconi), the bottom of the article.
£4400 for 21 locations to get fancy coffee machines seems about right.

My last job with a proper coffee machine was in a re-purposed building that had housed a warehouse and a restaurant.
The "Knocked through" office suites preserved some of the restaurant kit in the staff kitchen.
The coffee machine was valued at Eur. 28,000 in 2001.

Having your wife crippled by terrorists doesn't excuse you from being a cunt. And Norman Tebbit is no exception - what a cloaca. The Chinese dragon story just reinforces the idea :x

Bad news, Vin. Agreeing with Norman Tebbit is not a certificate of clean mental health. Sorry.

If Tebbitt is coming back....

Quote:
but poor George is the heir to Brown and his inheritance was an utterly unprecedented mountain of debt and an unsustainable deficit piling on even more debt.

It took you an awfully long time to get debt to go down Norman. Something which Nulabor managed too.

Reason for UK debt shooting up

Code:
1. The government borrowed £179.8bn* to bail out RBS, Lloyd’s and Northern Rock.

2. The recession triggered by the banking crisis led to redundancies and bankruptcies, along with less spending in the economy. This added up to mean that less tax was being paid, so the government's revenue (income) fell.

3. At the same time, with more people redundant, there were more people claiming unemployment benefit, so government expenditures went up

Link

The bailout was essentially caused by Laissez-faire economics here is the US.

So maybe you are not worth listening to.....

This is great, two for the price of one stuff. Not only does he not appreciate the difference between judiciaries (unelected) and legislatures (which should be elected). Or that you should except membership rules while you're a member of a club- no doubt Tebbit's made the same point about some EU members at some point. But he's added a comment upon the comments made:

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/norma ... the-lords/

Quote:
Reading the comments on my blogs I am often all but overcome by compassion for so many of my critics. They must surely be victims of some sickness which compels them to read my blogs, which they hate, but are attracted to like moths to a flame. Then they binge on their hate, spewing ignorance and bile until their paroxysms of petulance, ignorance and rage are over until next week. Poor creatures, I think: they are in need of help.

Yep, the unpleasant ones are those lefties! No hate spewed by the people who like him. None at all. And posting on a blog you don't agree with is apparently a sickness.

As an example, he picks out two excellent (and perfectly civil posters):

Quote:
Of course gilzean and schoolswot blamed Thatcher both for what happened in America as well as the Blair/Brown banking regulation here

Knowing Schoolswot's posts (offline at the moment), what he does repeatedly is point out that Thatcher undid the UK equivalent of the Glass-Steagall Act (as part of Big Bang), and how difficult it would have been to restore the separation between commercial and banks. And that the prospect of losing business to London might have been part of the US motivation in doing the same.

Yeah, real frothing at the mouth rubbish.

Another gem:

Quote:
Then there was uncertaintrumpet calling for more equality. Well, example is worth more than exhortation, and I look forward to him telling us that he has given away almost all he owns to those with less than him.

Because arguing for redistribution across society and giving away all your money as an individual is exactly the same thing. I can't argue for the former until I've done the latter.

I mean it's a pretty poor show when you get to (mis)quote the opponent, but old Norm manages it.

Quote:
For laughs I enjoyed seeing senna's romantic view that we should subsidise coal mining, car making and the like (although he did not say who would create the wealth to pay the subsidies')

Norman's subsidies for nuclear power, the defence industry and Canary Wharf of course being entirely different.

Yes Norman. Obviously he's the one with the mental problem. ;)
