To be honest the "they" is probably more aimed at those on the left such as John Cruddas.

Am I alone in wondering why the hell it matters?

We get X hours of sunlight a day. It either starts an hour sooner or finishes an hour sooner.

Kids either walk to school in the dark or come home in the dark.

Same amount of daylight.

According to Cameron, we boast "the most favourable timezone in the world".

I bet he tries to take credit for that as well.

I don't have stats to hand but I believe that there is some evidence that more kids come to harm in the dark in the pm than the am.

Hang on, what?

I assume he means because we set it all up? or has he not realised that 12 pm is midday everywhere in the world?

He may not.

It is gradually dawning on a lot of people that he is actually pretty limited in intellect, however expensive his education...

Based on what? I would consider the more hours of daylight the better, so anywhere on the equator would be best in my book, all other things being equal.

In the FT today Cameron said politicians should stop talking down the economy:
Quote:
"Above all, at home and abroad, we must counsel against the pessimism and fear that can become self-fulfilling prophecies in global markets," Mr Cameron writes.

"Whatever the obstacles to growth today, we still boast some of the best universities in the world, the most favourable timezone in the world, and the world's first language. I passionately believe that the global economy is presenting us with opportunities, not threats – and we must seize them."

Aha! And this is why Cameron is (yet again) talking out of his arse. Timezones are, of course, longitudinal and not latitudinal so you could be on the equator and still be in "our" timezone.

Personally I think those 12 hour days, 365 days a year and no seasons would become extremely tedious after a while. I mean, dark at 6:00pm EVERY night. Boring.

Needs to be a compromise between long evenings and nice weather. The Med' seems a nice choice but that appears to be full of Mailtard immigrants.

Well I never knew that.

Really, I never knew that either. It seems there is no end to my ignorance.
Thanks for putting me straight Carlos.

That wasn't a dig at you, it was a dig at Cameron for talking shit, followed by a flippant observation.

It wasn't taken as a dig Carlos.
Seems Cameron wasn't the only one talking shit.
I would prefer as much daylight as possible, I thought that meant the equator, you corrected me so thank you.

Ah this is the David Cameron who muttered the word bankrupt Britain on numerous occasions when in opposition.

Oh and it's Global markets now?

Sorry, I thought you were being sarcastic. Probably my fault, my frigging back is killing me and I've got to sit at this desk sorting crap out (yes, I know I'm posting on here - but I'm also bored). I think I mis-read Red Malcolm yesterday, too. Apologies to both of you.

You really didn't know it got dark at 6:00pm at the equator?
