How India squanders British aid: We give £1.4bn to a country that has its own space programme. In this damning investigation, the Mail reveals how it's scandalously wastedA vintage example of unbalanced reporting: there's not a single voice in this article from supporters of the aid programme, or even from the DfID.

teachers in a quarter of primary schools are routinely absent because they take part-time jobs outside school to compensate for low pay.
And cutting the aid budget is going to make this better?

‘We do not have the money to pay for medical staff to perform an operation, such as an emergency Caesarean, in the operating theatre. We can only deal with the uncomplicated births at our clinic,’ says Dr Rajasree Bajaj, the medical director, bluntly. ‘The expensive equipment bought with your aid money has been wasted.’
And cutting the aid budget is going to make this better?
Meanwhile, the racists are out in numbers:

Mangala, Luton, UK: There are 1 milion Indians working in UK. Each pays not less that £6,000 taxes. That is £6 billion. That is to say £1.4 billion is their own money!!
- That's possibly the biggest nonsense I've ever seen on DM comments. Indians in UK are either on benefits or winging about low wages and in any event the minimal taxes bought in by them pay go into the same pot as all other income tax from workers in Britain - £6,000 a head, balderdash!
