Now that was a superb post. Spot on.

As well as clearing all other stock and devoting the store to sell nothing but the Military Wives' single for the next two weeks, I suspect that many of the potential purchasers would like stores to find a way of alerting the shoppers' friends, family, and work colleagues to the fact that they bought the single, because they care damnit. Perhaps there is a gap in the market for t-shirts that say "I bought 11(!!!11!1!) copies of The Military Wives' single".

Spot on indeed.

They missed a trick, didn't they? A badge/ribbon/wristband with every purchase. That would have shown us how much they care.

The thing is, like poppies, you must buy this single to show your moral worth. Tesco's are in deriliction of a DM enforced patriotic duty.

Edit: I see the conspiracy theorists are on to this...

Gawd, these people are so hard of thinking. Can they seriously believe that Tesco's is really going to divert its staff to clicking arrows on a website? For that to be conceivably worthwhile, someone at Tesco would have to believe that hundreds of people who were previously going to boycott them in disgust will sit down and think "Oh no, they must be all right, look at all these people green arrowing favourable comments". Frankly, if there is anyone at Tesco's who believes that, he's likely to find himself out of a job very quickly indeed.

And another thing - if D M readers are so keen on money being given to Our Heroes, surely they should just give it direct, without sending it via Tesco and the record company who will take a very hefty cut?

DM journo lies until the penultimate paragraph and the feeble-minded can't read that far - situation normal at DayCare Towers.

Despite it being pointed out in posts like the above (nice one Carlos), the Mailtards are still turning up. I do hope that the nice old man in charge of the Leveson Enquiry has been made aware of this. It's an ideal example of how the Mail operates.

From a story about Asda:

Quote:
TThe big supermarkets are just disgusting. . I sent an email to Tesco complaining that Tesco was open Boxing Day and they dismissed it saying their employees got extra pay and had since December 1 to plan their family celebrations around working Boxig Day. This is ridiculous as it missed the point entirely, which is that they are non essential workers who SHOULD NOT have to plan their Christmas around working Boxing Day. I also complained that their stores fly corporate flags but not the union flag and the customer service rep asked which store because he was unaware this happened. You have to be kidding me, I've never seen any Tesco fly the union flag.

The customer service people at Tesco must fucking love Jim.

I won't go into the details of Tesco's rules on staff holidays, but most Tesco workers did not have to work Boxing Day. In fact, in the store where I work, a number of people who signed up to work Boxing Day were told at the last minute not to come in.

New Tesco opening nearby. Good. Nice and convenient and much, much cheaper than the shop across the road which ALWAYS fucks up my change - in their favour (I've moved beyond contempt) and sells alcohol to 13 year olds who promptly smash up the bus shelter.

Exactly.
I had a mad moment in Sainsbury's a couple of weeks ago because they were selling off Christmas chocolates at silly money eg boxes of liquor chocolates for £1.50, chocolate tree decorations for 5p etc
They will be consumed slowly over about 6 months, so I won't be consuming any more chocolate than usual, simply eating nicer stuff and paying less for it.
