", do you think it'd be a magnet for cunts? Well let's find out...

Yes, Christmas is under attack. The PC brigade would have us say "Happy Holidays" for fear of upsetting non-Christians. The 15% atheists are making the most noise, while the 85% silent majority is getting trodden down. Christians! Awake! Your Saviour comes!! Stand up and be counted, or face extinction.

Ok everyone. there is one small point : THIS IS A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY not a oppressed muslim state. We celebrate Christmas in this country. If you find it offensive, then LEAVE for the Xmas holidays. We wont stop you, Love having you here, but because this is a democracy, ( not an dictatorship) you have choices....stay and join in, or let us do wnat we want.....or leave... Here Horse....

"The # atheists are making the most noise"
This does seem to be the case. I wonder what their motive and agenda is?
To impose their values and convictions upon others? Isn't that the same motive and agenda that has caused every religious war we have ever had?

Comment to Rockahula.
Its not a Pagan festival...maybe it 'was' a time of year that a pagan festival was held hundreds of years ago, but Christmas is a Christian festival now. My birthday is on the 4th of July. Just because I celebrate my birthday on that day doesn't mean that I am celebrating Independance day for America.

It's not Christmas that's under attack per se, it's CHRISTmas - the very name of our Saviour is treated as a swearword and the bigots are trying to obliterate even the mention of the Lord. Still, this is to be expected as this attitude was prophesied to take place at this particular time in history.

The left wing BBC is fond of reporting rubbish like this & trying to make a story from nothing.
Back in 1998 they did the same.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/210672.stm
The UK celebrates Christmas....end of.

All my friends who profess to be atheists are celebrating Christmas one way or another.
Do they not realise that the "Christ" in Christmas has some theist connotations???
I wish everyone peace at Christmas and may God help you all fulfil your dreams for the New Year.

I don't think that the majority of Athiests are against Xmas - frankly I don't think they give a damn - and I respect them for that. The people in the US who keep trying to stop Government Public Displays are your plain old miserable crap stirers who want to create mayhem. They nothing on their mind, other than forcing their views on others. We Christians should ignore them.

Why is it atheists seem to be the new repressives? So you don't want to hear about X religion's festivals? So what? Stop whining!
I see regular references to Jewish, muslim, Hindu and Sikh festivals in the press and treat them as you should treat Christmas- I just ignore them and let those who want to celebrate.

Recent movement to ban Xmas and references to Xmas in public places except churches and private homes, is political correctness gone awry. I bet this zealots dare not seek a ban on Hannukah or any Jewish holidays from public place. I must add, it is sad that most religious holidays/celebration have lost their true meaning to commercialization and materialism.
It's funny but I walked down the local high street last Saturday and there wasn't a Christmas reference to eb seen. Apart from all those signs. And lights. And trees. And tinsel. And Santas. And...actually, you know what Kingsley, you're talking crap.

He got his right to free speech from UK being a non-extreme Christian country - its values, traditions, customs & being a bastion of emancipation.
He should never ever forget that - and thank whatever he is capable of thanking that we have a Christmas as a symbol of where & how we got our freedoms of free speech, assembly etc.
If ever we lose Christmas - we go backwards

The birth of Jesus in human form achieved many things. One of these was the end of legalism and a call to live according to principles not rules. He encouraged thought, and I would think happy to see this debate. The comments from many non Christians about the value of community and simplicity is great to hear - you are closer to being Christlike that you might want to admit. Happy Christmas.

I was horrified that cards with religeous significance or even using the word christmas were hard to find. eventually I found 10 cards with a religeous symbol but not the word christmas.
They were the only 10 there

I never thought I would live long enough to see an article like this. Stomp Political Correctness into the ground where it belongs. Say Merry Christmas whenever you please. Tell anybody who doesn't like it to go to the Devil.
I'll mention it in around July then. See if it goes down well...

Perhaps the Daily Mail don't have it completely wrong. Here in Wales (Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council to be exact.) those headlines wouldn't be too far off the mark. My local Community Centre held a Christmas Fete recently - in order to qualify for funding from the Council the word 'Christmas' was not allowed to appear on flyers, advertising, etc.
I'm calling bullshit on that.

Many confused by the rabid atheists do not understand that the rights & freedoms which they enjoy are the product of Christianity - Christian values, beliefs, worship, spirituality
The BBC Guardian feeds their ignorance - look around the world & see what you get in those countries which are not 'non-extreme' Christian countries - perhaps even the BBC will notice the differences

Can someone explain to me why a country that has celebrated Christmas / the birth of Jesus for so long, should suddenly stop because a few miserable bigots don't like it?
They are just sick if the sight of the navity makes them unhappy.
I am offended by the term partner. I am not single, not gay and not shacked up, but this won't be changed for me will it.
