Mysteriously, when often nobody comments on Patrick's articles, there are already 5 comments, and one of them calling the article "bitter, twisted" is 25 in the green. Another reckons Collins is employed to be a "buffoon"- right paper, wrong columnist. Those agreeing with him are in the red.

What's the betting the article's been linked to on a thicko Man Utd forum?

Is there any other sort?

Typical. Patrick Collins opens his mouth about how crap Ashley and Pardew are and Newcastle get a run of fucking wins (one against us).

Would Michael think this if we were talking about his boss?

If Michael were a bit unhappy, we could say "yeah, but look at the sales he's achieved! you must be jealous!"

Poor Patrick's picked up a modest following of people whose clubs he's been nasty about.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/articl ... indow.html

He's been relatively mild about the ludicrous spectacle of Sky Sports News on deadline day. Harry Redknapp stopped a car and did some spiel and got praised by Sky for always being helpful with them.

One hopes he's similarly helpful with Her Majesty's Customs and Revenue.

He's got a book out.

One of the chapters was in Wisden this year, and it was excellent.

Watching the watchers, eh?

Isn't that the title of Wally's autobiography?

Mike Ashley strips off in a restaurant in Mansfield's "Latin Quarter". Praise for Ken Loach. And Garry Cook= David Brent.

Newcastle fan not happy because he didn't mention Joey Barton's charity work.

In which Patrick brings up Blatter-like comments by Dave Whelan (one of his regular targets) that were missed by most of the press.

And his very good book has been shortlisted for the William Hill prize. They ought to have entered his poppy column as well.

Football has spent £209m on agents in 3 years. He uses the word "chancers" again, the word he used of football when talking about all the poppy bollocks.

£209m would do a fair bit of good for wounded servicemen, wouldn't it?

The Suarez business tied neatly tied with the media's flattery of Dalglish.

Quote:
The inquisitor from Sky TV assessed the manager’s mood and served him up a slow full toss.
‘Did Andy Carroll do everything but score tonight?’ he inquired. Dalglish grunted a few unrevealing platitudes, and the deferential tone was set.

Quote:
The player was found guilty and received an eight-match ban and £40,000 fine. An initial reading of the commission’s findings, published on Saturday night, suggests a scrupulously thorough and balanced process with an apparently appropriate sanction.
Yet through all this, Liverpool FC’s stance has been that of the affronted victim. Long before they saw the detailed findings, they called the decision ‘extraordinary’ and ‘incredible’.
They impugned the character of Patrice Evra. They allowed players and manager to parade in ‘supportive’ T-shirts, a piece of imbecilic posturing.

Dalglish himself plumbed the deepest depths when he tweeted: ‘Let’s not let him walk alone.’ It was a cheap and demeaning attempt to evoke the tradition of a great football club in the service of one who had been found guilty by the FA of a serious offence.

Patrick unimpressed by new Premier League TV deal. And with Roy Keane. And football agents are still "chancers". He's a top man.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/articl ... llins.html

Quote:
Far worse than the payments to players are the payments to football agents. Premier League clubs are currently handing over something in the region of £70m a year, every year, to these unspeakable chancers. This is money which is permanently lost to the game, paid out for trite and irrelevant services on a scale which a normal industry would not contemplate. But who's counting?

Quote:
We were also told that it would prevent the major clubs forming their own, exclusive, league. The fact that only four or five clubs can even dream of winning the title rather scuppers that claim.
