Or it proves that people have a sence of humour and like voiding the results of stupid surveys?

If you are guessing and have never seen Back to the Future, Dr Emmet Brown isn't an unreasonable guess. (The only one I didn't know, was who did the first lung transplant.)

Just in case anyone might get it wrong they prefilled the answer in question 6..

I'd probably have got 2/3 off the bat.. eg. I thought it was Marie Curie that discovered radioactivity, and she's not on the list.

They once tried one of these surveys when I was at school - we had to sit for an hour answering questions on our attitude to women. I just invented something like a cross between alf garnett and harold shipman in my head and answered in that way. The results would probably have made a great mail headline '30% of teenagers think women should be killed on sight if they move more than 6 feet from the sink..'

I think it's been mentioned elsewhere, but people (especially schoolchildren) see it as their duty to take the piss out of those things. After all, if the survey showed most people got upwards of 75% right there would be no reason for the findings to be published, and the whole exercise would have been a waste of everyone's time. We had a quiz at school which featured the question

"If a coin is flipped 250 times what is the probability of landing on heads?" or something similar. Someone answered
"Nobody ever wins these kinds of contests"

Yes, but with the wrong answer. The correct answer is nitrogen.

More of a pathetic study than a survey, but never mind. It's getting a bit of a kicking.

Yes Schoolkids see it as a chance for a laugh.
Note also the agenda of these surveys - to vilify young people and education.

It's funny (No it isn't - it's pathetic) that they never do anything designed to highlight respectable adults like us and their spectacular failure to convert currency, calculate repayments,
work out probabilities, or understand fairly simple sentences.

Car parking? Best leave it to the missus! Study finds women are better than men...

Quote:
On average, it took women 21 seconds to park, compared with 16 seconds for men.

Over a lifetime, says the report, this translates into men spending nine days parking while woman take 12.

Unless they don't have a car.

Those figures mean people park their cars in a bay 50,000 times in a lifetime. Seems an awful lot to me.

Survey commissioned by a car park company, of course.

Compare and contrast with last September's:

Married Geordies in their thirties are the nation's biggest flirts, a survey has found.

More than half (52 per cent) are over-friendly in the workplace, throwing colleagues suggestive glances or smiles.
Quote:
However a quarter of the 1,000 adults surveyed (25 per cent) claimed never to flirt.

If this pathetic survey (for 'National Flirt Day') only interviewed 1000 adults, how many of them were "married Geordies in their thirties"? Just these two?

Glad I'm not a Geordie as they have a shocking reputation, plus all they go on about is drink and football.

An opinion supported by as much evidence as the article itself.

Having taught in FE&HE in Middlesbrough for the last ten years, I can assure you that the Smoggies are all teetotal and never ever mention football.
