The mail often waves it's support the elderly flag when talking about certain topics, like health and respite care.

But why do adult people at a late stage in their lives still need role models? Is that not rather patronising?

And why do they assume that any female chosen to appear on a show must be a "token" female, rather than one there for the contribution she can make and nothing more?

I find that sexist, and I doubt there is anything they could do to prove otherwise.

So, let me see. The BBC regularly and scrupulously look at their output to check they aren't fucking anyone over, and set in place plans to rectify it, and that's a bad thing?

Possession of self-awareness and a desire to improve aren't really on the Mail's to-do list, I suppose.

Looks like a half-hearted attempt to laugh at the BBC and claim it has been taken in by a viewer pic from a 'Shanda Lear'.

But the font doesn't quite look like the BBC's and several comments point out Lutterworth has had no snow recently.

And another comment points to this: the original image on the Facebook wall of the guy who photoshopped it.

I must admit, I have always found it a bit creepy on news shows (not just the BBC) where they team up an older man with a dolled-up slightly younger woman. It's all a bit 'dad and secretary'.

Just accidentally caught a smidgin of an ITV show called "Dancing on Ice", which I usually avoid like the clap.

Now here's the thing: If I understand the history of these things correctly, the BBC had the (questionably) original idea of a show where your "celebs" competed in a bit of a dancing competition first. ITV then seems to have come along and observed that this format was quite successful, and must have thought long and hard about how they could get a similar success without just blatantly copying the format (god forbid).

How I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when the idea was finally put to the ITV commissioning exec. A programme that is IDENTICAL to "Strictly Come Dancing"' except that everyone wears skates, and the dancing happens on an ice rink. In fact, we'll call it "Dancing on Ice". Brilliant.

I have formed the impression that this is not the only time that ITV has cunnningly ripped off a successful BBC format. Am I right?

I didn't know, or care, and I didn't read the article properly.
I did wonder where all the misogyny and references to pipes, flat caps and boilersuits was coming from. Now I understand because that's all dykes ever wear innit?

I've only ever known a few lesbians, but not one of them ever wore a boilersuit or a flat cap in my prescence. It's true one of them did occasionally smoke a pipe, which she was kind enough to share with me, but it wasn't the kind the Mailitie wankers have in mind.

It's not really BBC bashing at all but lesbian bashing.
