They are not the only people who have become very sick or died that didn't have life insurance - sometimes because they can't afford it, but other times it is indeed because they don't see the point. Normally these people are called stupid and selfish by the mailites.

I am a single gay man and don't have life insurance purely becasue there is no one who I wish to benefit from such insurance. I am financially ok (through work at the moment) and the things I have to leave are going to the right people. Why I am suppossed to pay into a plan that other people will profit from is beyond me. Though I suppose to most mailites, being gay, I am not a real person.

There is automatic, free, life and injury cover provided by the MOD, called the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme. Google it. A survivng spouse gets a pension for life, based on the age and salary of the soldier. An example given on the Veterans UK site shows the widow/er of someone of 34 on £30,000 who dies would get £18738 a year. Additional payments are made for dependent children. There are payments for injuries as well. These SLI or Pax insurance schemes are in addition to the basic scheme referred to above, and it's up to individual servicemen/women to decide if they want to top up the free cover.- jao2, uk, 4/2/2012 12:27

So a load of bollocks basically.

I thought it was just me, I have a whole set of KLM stuff (Classy) and a few American airlines bits (Which rather remind me of Late war German kit made from steel pressings).
Alas those days are no more..
Curse you Al Quaeda, Curse you Ryanair.

Indeed. Never seen any KLM stuff. I've a British Airways spoon with a lovely big round bowl (as opposed to the normal teardrop shape) that makes a superb spice spoon for cooking.
I wonder what happened to all the metal cutlery that airlines used to have. It must have gone somewhere? Scrap?

It's the carriers I miss. British Caledonian and Eastern Air Lines especially.

Not sure if it's the same one but there's an Eastern Airways operating out of Aberdeen. And a very fine airline they are too. Certainly on of my favourites.

This was an American one that went bust in the 1990s.

Britain's first ever lesbian burlesque troupe take to the stage... in a CHURCH

Sadly, not in a MOSQUE.

In fact, not in a CHURCH either:

The former church was turned into a community arts centre last year and now hosts regular comedy and music events.

They look like something from a Halloween pantomime!

But this is old news, disused churches have been recycled for all sorts of purposes for years. The first one I saw was a pub in Elgin which must be at least 20 years ago. A quick Google reminds me that it was called High Spirits (tee-hee-hee, how clever, what wit!) and it later changed it's name to Aspire (oh no stop it, it hurts!!!) and now it is the Taj Mahal Indian Tandoori Restaurant (Oh dear, some of the staff might be, y'know, THEM). "Sic transit dignitas ecclesiae." is the Mailesque caption on the photo.

Owch. However, not quite as painful as the (possibly apocryphal) All Bar Nun.

The flurry of lesbian non-stories in today's Mail makes me wonder whether the latest search-engine results were on Herr Dacre's desk when he arrived this morning after another stressful night at Sadlers Wells.

TalkTalk lay off 575 Irish workers... then bosses hold giant party with free beer, clay pigeon shooting, food and music

Story:

"In the scenic settings of an English stately home, some 3,500 TalkTalk staff drank free beer, ate free food, bounced on a castle, played badminton, played mini-golf fired shotguns and queued for massages."

The pictures are very selective.. appear to be taken before/after. Here's a picture during. Spot any bosses clay pigeon shooting?

Free beer is rarely a good combination with clay pigeon shooting.

Company bosses getting drunk and dining on pheasant seems to trump paddy-hating at the mail.

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 'mid-air emergency' after pilot aborts landing to avoid collision on runway

Quote:
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were left 'terrified' after a plane flying them into Britain narrowly avoided colliding with another aircraft

Quote:
British Airways admitted one of their pilots was forced to perform the mid-air manoeuvre during the flight on November 2, but dismissed the incident as 'standard procedure'
A spokesperson said: 'Our crew were told by air traffic control to perform a go-around – a perfectly standard operation with no safety implications – because an aircraft from another airline hadn’t fully cleared the runway.

I would have thought that saying that an RAF pilot was terrified by a routine go-around was almost libellous. He would have known full well what was happening.
