Indeed. I think it's about perception - does a job LOOK easy to do? When we see a surgeon (or more to the point an actor playing one on Casualty) doing an intricate operation, it's obviously a complex business. But the administrator having to. Decide whether to cut the maternity or A&E budget? No less tricky, even if the risks of doing a poor job are somewhat less immediate.

And a piece by Mark Thompson himself over at Wrong Minds.

The BBC must change- older women should no longer feel they are invisible

Unmoderated, so an opportunity for every BBC hating Mailtard to speak their brane:
Quote:
If the BBC 'admits' that it has got something wrong then be very suspicious. The BBC's chosen domain is the moral high ground. They must have the most smug, self righteous, criticism immune management in the world. They never really 'get it wrong'. This mea culpa is just a strategy, the purpose of which will become clear over time.

Looks like Barrel-scraper Revoir even cut & pasted the pics from Thompson's piece.

Whose side are they on? BBC tells journalists to stop calling Qatada 'an extremist' - and showing pics of him looking fat (but we can, so here he is!)

The term 'extremist' suggest a value judgement, say Beeb bosses
Cleric should instead be described as 'radical'
By Paul Revoir (shocking)

End of the article...

Yesterday the corporation released a statement saying it did not ban words.

But according to insiders it had told staff to avoid using the term.

Do you think "wiseman" (oh, the irony) knows that Victor Meldrew was a character in a BBC sitcom?

All the women making the allegations attended Duncroft Approved School in Staines, Surrey, which Savile visited on regular occasions.

I suppose the DM does know what an approved school was?

But last month in the Mail:

Quote:
The BBC spent almost two months investigating ‘historic’ sex claims against its presenter Sir Jimmy Savile immediately after his death.

The inquiry by Newsnight reporters involved allegations of inappropriate behaviour by the star with teenage girls which dated back to the 1970s.

Police investigated the claims several years ago and Crown Prosecution Service lawyers decided there was no evidence to press charges.

In the event the Newsnight report was dropped.

Yesterday friends and family of the former DJ, broadcaster and charity fundraiser criticised the BBC and accused its journalists of ‘muckraking’.

The tone is one of criticism of the BBC for daring to look into this. Today's article is: how dare the BBC bury the evidence.

It really can't win, can it?

Major national broadcaster to broadcast major national event shock

I presume these fuckers wouldn't moan if they "rested" Casualty to show something about the Queen.

Quite. They are constantly moaning about how bad these programmes apparently are (except Songs of Praise of course) and then they moan when they're taken off air. I suspect they would only be truly happy if the entire schedule was replaced with cheap Catherine Cookson adaptations and a series of rose-tinted documentaries about how wonderful the 1950s were.

Or unless it's Paddy doing the smearing.
