This is old news - and you can now buy them in supermarkets, ferries etc. Cuts out the excuse of not remembering how much you've had...

It's an amazing double standard from the paper which bangs on about foreigners obeying, not only British laws, but conforming to British cultural norms (or the Mail's version of them).

French motoring laws are actually a model of how to force a recalcitrant population to obey sensible rules for their own safety.

They don't seem to have noticed the other new legislation which came into effect this year - all Brit satnavs are illegal.

Yup - any device which stores and warns the driver of the positions of radar controles is now utterly and completely illegal. I can't remember the fine, but it'd make your eyes water. And the gendarmes have the right to take away your car if you don't pay up on the spot. And they don't take credit cards but they will take you to a nearby cashpoint. (damhikt)

That's interesting, I wondered how long that would take.
Hopefully it will spread to other countries.

That's the lead story in the dead-tree edition. For the duration of the A4e 'scandal', the Mail has been running the same picture of Emma Harrison, and it again takes up half of the front page today:

Is there something about this photo that's particularly likely to rile the Mailmob? Is it the ethnic costume (I doubt they're much bothered by cultural appropriation)? The thought that a government adviser might have fun in her leisure time? The partner's bow tie? I'm bemused.

I feel like the man is about to start shrieking 'Go compare!', although he doesn't look much like the man in the ads.

I know it doesn't start with the word, but the DM style book says it should. So there.

I'm just admiring the number of strikes against PLU goodness in that picture.

I love press photos that have to include an object representative of the kernel of the story.

HERE IS A COFFEE CUP.

YOU DRINK COFFEE FROM IT.

YOU UNDERSTAND, YES?

When they banned hot drinks at our parent and toddler it did tick me off a bit, however as the workers pointed out if a child got burnt they would be the ones in the shit not us. We worked out a system where mums could go next door for a brew without kids, which was actually much better.

Clearly we should have been phoning the Mail to moan instead.
