I was mystified enough by that headline to look at the story. Essentially what it comes down to is that some soldiers say they don't always eat three meals a day because they can't afford it, despite the fact that it's subsidised. The army runs a scheme whereby soldiers in that situation are given food vouchers till they learn to budget better. It doesn't exactly compare with children dying in Somalia, does it?

Why is it that Express freebies always have a whiff of "let's clear out the warehouse" about them?

Plus Weetabix will do more than just clear out the warehouse. ;)

Here's an idea; Why don't the Express donate some money to the organisations that support soldiers?

To be fair, they do supply a lot of free PR services to the EDL. They're doing their bit.

With the soldier love, there's a perverse kind of one-upmanship the media engage in. If someone suggests that more money is spent on (say) soldier's accomodation, someone else will step in and accuse that person of being disrespectful, because surely they should all get houses free, and never have to pay council tax. Then person 3 will join the fray, saying how dare you not mention the blow job from the pope each of them should receive when arriving home from overseas. Person 4 will then say "Oh hang on, what about th ones at home? Don't they deserve oral sex off a pontiff as well?" and on it goes.

Looking back over my earlier comment, I suppose that the reason Express giveaways stink of emptying the depot is because that's exactly what's going on. Such as the free scarf earlier this week.

Which he announced at the last budget and also in the Autumn review because I bet it all boils down to the increase in tax threshold which was announced previously.

But our Heroes deserve to dine out on nothing less that steak mignion and lobster thermidor washed down with finest brandy and caviar every day.
And like some mediaval banquet, nobody else should eat until they've finished.

I think Wispa used to have the same slogan as the Daily Express.

"Bite it and believe it"...

Did you know that George Michael used to work for Cadbury's before he got famous?

He got the sack, though. He was a bit careless with the Wispas.

Knowing the express, this is probably an old batch salvaged from Scott's base camp.
