Seriously from a dour faced misery guts who spends his life blowing things out of proportion that statement is hilarious.

Even in this article, where he describes, at worst, an overly heavy handed approach by airport security in dealing with this guy and then uses this case say this is evidence of the end of Great Britain......

If you need a fix of irony then you can always count on Hitchens to deliver.

Another barking mad article. Peter is upset that Lord Dannatt is no longer spearheading the campaign against gay marriage. Hitchen thinks that Dannatt would make a better job of running the campaign than Lord Carey because.

'Goofy swivel-eyed prejudice monger' sounds like a perfect description of Hitchen.

Hitchen thinks that Dannatt has taken a back seat in the campaign because he has been leant on, I think the more likely explanation is that he took a look at some of the head bangers backing the campaign and decided he really didn't want to be associated with such a dysfunctional rabble.

The problem with alcohol in the UK is down to having a British mentality (mistakenly equating arrogant stupidity with confidence). The mixture of arrogant stupidity and alcohol is always a bad one.

The problem with alcohol in the UK is an argument Britain and being British and not alcohol. The mail and Hitchens have shot off their own feet by demonstrating this and successfully undermining the whole concept of being British....

On illegal drugs in the US, cannabis is widely available everywhere and it even surprises me who indulges (not me). The biggest problems are methamphetamine, in the poor rural white communities, crack, in the poor black communities, and prescription drug abuse (Xanax, Oxycontin known as hillbilly heroin and vicodin).

The US does not have a problem with public drunkeness, as you see in the UK on Saturday nights, because public intoxication will get you jail time. Not that that stops people from getting drunk mind you.

Most people have a few in the local bar before going home to finish off the job.
