But what’s the explanation for Mr Dyer’s consistently degrading roles, which serve only to show up his bewildering lack of talent?
One clue may come from his 2010 autobiography, in which he confesses to drinking too much, advocates taking drugs and admits using them frequently.

Quote:
a very bad actor, with zero sense of social responsibility.
Mr Dyer is very much a villain for our times.
It’s an illuminating comment on modern British film that he keeps being cast as a leading man.

Yep. Never been villains in cinema before Danny. And no actors ever got pissed or took drugs.

I often wonder what a sniffer dog would find if admitted into the offices of the Mail, Sun, Star etc.

Ha! Haven't seen that in ages. I always enjoyed the compulsive liar husband sketch the most. In particular the Middle Earth adventure/banging your sister one, if memory serves.

Fun game we play sometimes on IMDB. Take the name of any film or TV series, and add the words "...with Danny Dyer".

Hours of fun.

At the very real risk of this thread degenerating into that kind of behaviour, right opposite me in plain view:

Taken

Dude, Where's My Car? ... With Danny Dyer

Doesn't quite work, but I don't care.

Has anyone seen or read Mark Kermode's rant about Danny Dyer? Unlikely to be a subscriber to the Dyer fan club, I'd say.

He's a shit actor and has made some very very bad films. I'm with the Mail on that one. However, I'd leap at the chance of spending a filthy hour with him in a hotel of his choosing. Definitely the ultimate three pinter.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure... With Danny Dyer.

I hate myself for that.

I saw him in a play a couple of years ago - 'Kurt and Sid' with him playing Sid Vicious to some other guy's Kurt Cobain. He was actually surprisingly good, especially considering it was in the round and the stage was on the level of and only a couple of feet from the seats. He is also apparently a big fan of Harold Pinter. I did change my opinion of him after seeing him in the play, although he does (lazily) take a lot of crap hardman roles and shows like 'Danny Dyer's Hardest Men' do nothing to change the image.

I'd genuinely never heard of him. I must say that he appears to have risen without trace as far as I am concerned.
Is he a case of postmodern ironical praise?
