Fuck. Well, that's that then. I hope you all had the good sense to be born rich.

I've not slept well the last few nights, last night especially. Between this bill and the road tolls and the education and the attacks on the poor and unemployed; the malice and greed they show with every decision makes my blood boil. It's not fair.

Fairness doesn't come into it at all - on any level.

If anyone was under any illusions otherwise, here's the real reason for the urgency to push this through and the reason for such limp-wristed resistance:

@Crabcakes

Interesting/depressing read. My spooks at BUPA tell me that Caroline Spellman has been proactive in her schmoozing of late.

Labour appear to've finally woken up.

We are watching the final amendment being debated in the House of Lords. But there is fury on twitter about the BBC's lack of coverage of the health bill in the upper house.

Oh, that leftist BBC.

Nothing on ITV's evening news either from what I saw of it. Plenty of froth about Kate Middleton though.

I think labour have been on this for a while, but as long as the tories have a majority, and a total disinterest in their standing with the public, there's not much labour can do.

I think they've been awake. It's just that you can't do much when the government have a majority.

John Bercow deserves credit for allowing the debate. If he wasn't minded to before, presumably Osborne pre-announcing the entire budget focussed his mind.

That's it. Labour lose to the government 174 votes to 269. The health bill passes through the Lords. It will be back in the Commons tomorrow

Fuck sake. Tomorrow should be interesting. Rumour is there was no whip on the Lib Dem Lords they voted freely.

Spineless Lib Dem cunts. The sooner the Lords and all the worthless troughers in it are fucked off the better.

Quote:
More than one in four Conservative peers - 62 out of the total of 216 - and many other members of the House of Lords have a direct financial interest in the radical re-shaping of the NHS that is perilously close to being enacted. These peers have been able to vote on the crucial divisions that will determine the immediate and long-term future of the NHS and the coalition’s Health and Social Care bill.

The peers – who have personal interests in insurance companies, private health-care and private equity groups – have placed themselves into a position in which they are in danger of voting on behalf of the personal and private interests that stand to gain from the bill rather than in the public interest.

There is a growing rumour that the BBC's (and others') failure to report on NHS protests is because a DA Notice has been issued.

If so, that is a very serious assault on the fundamentals of democracy and the right of the individual to know what is happening in his or her country.

Rumour from where, if that is the case then we are all royally fucked.

Sometimes I really do loose hope, nothing is going to be left for my kids except fighting over scraps thrown from the balcony by our rulers.
