Going back slightly. I used to live about 75 meters from a British Legion club which frequently played deafening music into the small hours, Smokie in particular for some reason. The sight of fat red faced men brawling outside was far from unusual. Certainly one of the noisier places I've lived and I've lived in a few. Anywhere you get groups of people intent on drinking a lot has potential to get lairy or loud. That they have a military angle makes them special how, exactly?

It's called a disgraceful attempt to elicit sympathy from a woman who has failed one set of children and now may be in the act of failing another. That picture, as it attempts to show her, is fucking dishonest. As is the general tenor of the article.

This strikes me as a fairly competent effort; while there's no copy of the "offending" letter and the father is closer to resignation than true sadfacing, I'd say this was another respectable effort in the junior league. And we do have the bike as a prop to demonstrate the active lifestyle of which the Marxist social-engineering pen-pushers were ignorant or, more likely, which they chose maliciously to ignore.

That's nonsense. They will have said that she is above a certain centile - probably above the fiftieth (average) or something. Maybe they have confused it with a BMI of 97. Which is not a centile (being a range divided into 100 parts). If she was above the 97th centile she would be fatter than 97% of kids of heir height. Which she isn't.
