If anyone has seen the case of the 11 year old in Berlin being forced into a mental hospital because she is transsexual there is a petition going round. I tend to treat petitons with a pinch of salt, but in this case think that publicity may help

Usually I would agree, but Germany does take human rights seriously, and there are groups in Germany fighting for her.

So it seems like the institution has stepped up. I'm very uncomfortable looking at any of these sorts of cases (due to the fact that it's (rightly) impossible to get all the facts, but I have a strong feeling there is something else going on here.
