The government are asking for your views on their proposals to allow full marriage for gay and trans couples. Please go and fill in the online questionnaire, because you can be certain that the churches, BNP etc will be getting their support out.

I did it when it first went up.

But yes, please do it. Please.

What worries me is that they have to ask for the opinions of others. Nothing like demonstrating an inability to lead.

The whole argument against LGBT marriage is based on special pleading.

That saddens me, too, but with people being people, I don't think the government have much choice.

What gets my goat most of all with this argument is not the fact that some "special" groups are speaking out against it, it's when a gay man or woman says "we don't need it". That upsets me a lot.

We've had a few of these consultation / e-petition threads on here recently. Would it be worth putting them into a single thread with a sticky?

That's a good idea. I've completed the survey and passed it on.

The only good arguments I have seen against this are basically arguments against all marriage. ("I love you forever so let's get the government involved.")

In the meantime.... if everybody could keep their noses out of the business of others, who are not harming them, then get married if you want.
