Well if this isn't a sign she wants to be a big, egotistical fish in a pond full of equally egotistical idiots and will soon be taking her titanic intellect to UKIP, I don't know what is:

I know she's as mad as a box of frogs and you're right, her ego is so massive it's a wonder she can get clothes to fit her, but I wonder how many Tory (let alone Libdem) backbenchers agree.
Outside government the snowballing Zeitgeist is of an incompetent, out of touch, sleazy government with even the Tory press queuing up to kick them. Conservatives have very little patience with leaders they see as a liability, just ask John Major. I think we're going to see increasing numbers of ambitious Tory career politicians breaking ranks and distancing themselves from the leadership.

This is a momentous day : the first time that I have ever agreed with Mad Nad.

Sit down. Pour yourself a drink. You'll get over it, with care and time.

I would imagine that there are a number of Tory MPs like Nad who have spent years fighting to get the Tories back in power only to find that a large number of government jobs are now being performed by Lib Dem MPs like Sarah Tether who have been promoted beyond their abilities. I think many disgruntled Tory MPs will keep their powder dry until the next reshuffle but if they get overlooked again things may well start to kick off.

That's certainly true, there have been open backbench rumblings (is it only in the Houses that we get rumblings? Strange.) But there isn't any depth of talent in either coalition party capable of making much of a difference. When the height of your intellectual prowess is Michael Gove...

I've said it before but it's my belief that the cabinet know that the game's up come 2015 and their political careers will be over. They are making alternative plans, probably running whatever privatised shambles replaces our welfare state. The backbenchers who have their hearts set on long careers in politics must be wondering what damage is being done to their futures by their association with this diabolical government. They still have seats to retain in 2015.

Does that include his time as a Lambeth Councillor? After all Southwyck House is still quite affordable.

Unfortunately for them, they keep forgetting that they couldn't get a majority at the last General Election. That's the price of a coalition.

I think you're exactly right. The cabinet are just in a rush to smash everything up, asset strip, and steal as much from the poor as they can for them and their pals before their time runs out. I doubt they even give a shit what happens to the Tory Party after that. It'll have served its purpose.

It seems to me that Cameron's recent problems all started after he had fulfilled the two things that most Tories wanted, reform of the NHS and the cutting the 50p tax rate. Perhaps Tories now believe that he has served his purpose and now they need a true blue leader to move the party forward. The only problem with this scenario is that the only real alternative leader at present is Boris Johnson who is currently not an MP so he is out of the running.

I've never been able to take the idea of Boris as Tory leader/PM seriously. It was hard enough to accept that he was the Mayor of London.

Me neither.

Can you imagine him and David Davis in a hustings? Davis would murder him.

Isn't the problem that Cameron's too metropolitan and nice to gays? I doubt the Tories would overlook that with Johnson because he did a couple of good gags.

The problem seems to be that during Labour"s years in government, the Tories elected themselves a series of truly duff leaders (Hague, Duncan-Smith, Howard) who couldn't lay a glove on Blair. Neither could Cameron, at first, until Brown took over. Even then, though, Cameron still couldn't win his party an overall majority in a time of national financial crisis, hence the coalition. Now Cameron is PM, he has filled the role reasonably well, at least superficially, in accordance with his origins as a PR man.

But now, he's being found out.
