Oh yeah, I get that it'd be a nightmare having to do two school runs, go to two different parents evening, two different PTA meetings etc., I was just wondering why she took the decision to home-school the twin who didn't get a place. I mean, she certainly isn't the only parent in the country - surely the council would help get the other child to the other school. Plus, especially with twins, it must cause a lot of resentment if one of them is out at school whilst the other is stuck indoors with mum all day.
Alternatively, if she is confident enough in her ability to homeschool one, why not homeschool both and get out of everyone's faces with this?
I've heard of parents who have children with a large enough age gap between them that they have to do a drop off at two different schools, and parents who set up a car pool at their school to share the driving between eachother.
Why did she not consider getting involved in an existing carpool, or offering to set one up? (that would probably be quite popular as it would benefit several parents).
The children are eight years old, she seems to have moved house to get them into a school without first finding any of this information out, or what her chances would realisticaly be of getting them in. It sure isn't worth a massive damn mortgage.
Perhaps there is a pool already, but she isn't very popular so was not invited to take part. Actualy I wouldn't be suprised if she wasn't one of those constantly complaining parents if she is the the type to also take her complaints to the papers.
