In London we live under a Mayor, Boris Johnson who dismissed the Macpherson report (released after Stephen Lawrence’s racially motivated murder) with these comments:
‘As for his [Macpherson's] suggestions that there should be more race awareness sessions for the police, and possible adjustments to the national curriculum to stamp out racist attitudes, he [Macpherson] is vehement that this should not be exaggerated.’ (Lend me your ears p217)

‘we could probably achieve the same results, if not better, if we axed large chunks of the anti-racism industry, stopping taxing so many people with the threat of legal action, and left a bit more of the struggle against racism to tolerance and good manners.’ (Lend me your ears p212)

Boris Johnson who
• has no African or Muslim political advisers representing a City that is 40% non white
• has not had a single public meeting on the issue of race equality policy in the GLA in 4 yrs
• turned Operation Trident gun crime squad into anti gangs unit designating London’s gang problem as exclusively black issue
• ended the hugely popular schools Black History Month Scholar competition funded by Accenture not the taxpayer
• cut funding, forcing closure of critically important local borough based police consultative groups
• cut funding to Africa Day, the anti racist Rise festival and St Patricks day celebrating London’s diversity
• transport policies fail to address the fact Black & ethnic minority children are over represented in road fatalities
• on taking over control of the MPS abolished all MPA race equality policy and consultative forums
• has seen the number of black youth going to jail in London increase by 100% during his term
• stopped publishing detailed race equality workforce figures to hide reduced number of black people employed
• concluded that ethnic representation in the police force was not necessary to achieve good community relations
• in 2008 promised 1000 black mentors to combat youth violence and in 2012 had delivered just 56

I'm not sure that list is particularly fair. I mean non-white isn't the same as black/Muslim, is it? And isn't Munira Mirza Muslim?

Also, I note the Trident point. That seems to imply that it was OK to imply that gun crime was a black issue. I think if people have been taken off gun crime to work on gangs, that is bad.

Here's more lovable Boris administration:

No sense of humour, that's what's destroying the country. (Unless being humourless drops Ken Livingstone in it, of course).

By the way, the 40% non-white point is wrong too. That leaves out 8.5% white other.

I was amused to learn that Red Ken has bought up all of Guido Fawkes's advertising space on his blog.

The blonde cunt is clearly so confident of winning that he's started being much more obviously hard right.

What a fucking awful prospect for 4 years.

I know the types. First ones to whine when the policies come back and bite them.
See Mailites at the last budget and (Excellent comment) voters who thought Gordon Brown had a creepy grin.

What have public libraries ever done for us, eh? What a fucking pillock Martin is. Another reason to stay away from his shit pubs.

More wisely - cutting business rates (for big ones anyway), something like that?

Wetherspoons - 'EDL Welcome'.

There's a Weatherspoons around the corner from where I work, where I drop in for breakfast occasionally. It currently has a laminated article from the DM on the bar, with that bloke talking about how taxes for pubs're so terrible. I'm wondering if that's the landlord's idea or a chain-wide initiative - has anyone else seen one?

Libraries certainly seem like "extravagance" these days, at least. :(

I apologise for going on about the utter shitfest of a mayoral election we have in London.

But the other day Gilligan did a compendium of all the bad things Livingstone had done to Jews. No surprise to see the Evening Standard "concentration camp guard" listed.

Gilligan, funnily enough, didn't remember this

Quote:
Ken Livingstone should "stick to his guns" and not apologise for his "Nazi" comment to a Jewish reporter, Tory MP Boris Johnson has insisted.

Gilligan is still being investigated for email hacking. People should take him seriously at all.

Unfortunately, he (together with the Standard) have driven the agenda. Lying old hypocrite Ken. No policy at all.

You're absolutely right though.

Oh, of course. The sheer partisanship of the Standard towards Boris is disgusting. It was bound to happen when he lobbied to have his dear friend become editor. Not to mention Lebedev considers him a friend.

That's 2 editors in a row too. The previous cunt, Veronica Wadley, was put forward for an arts job by Johnson. She made much of how she was going to cut waste- despite no arts or finance background. Funnily enough, not much talk of "Boris's cronies".

Imagine Livingstone doing that, preferably with his nominee being Muslim or black.
