And quite ironic since Rupes and Kelvin are the ones who do all the "building up and knocking down" shit.

Why not make every school turn private?

The answer is not to scrap private schools but make the other 93 per cent better.

My solution: all schools to be private.

Every parent would be 'given' a financial voucher so they can choose which school they wished their child to attend. All schools would follow the private school mantra of hard work. No teachers would be allowed to belong to a trade union. (I don’t want my children taught by trade unionists.)

All trouble-causing children would be kicked out and forced to attend Borstal-type training. Instead of falling down the global league — we are now around 28th — my solution would push us back near the top.

We might even beat Estonians at speaking English!

A typical snob-knob journalist job.

And what he omits to mention is that, to put every state school on level terms, those vouchers would need to be worth at least £12K per year per child at secondary level, and there would have to be a massive building programme because, if you have smaller class sizes, you need more classrooms. I can't see the Mailies being keen on paying the taxes to support that.

Those filthy trade unions! Jesus, I bet he's the kind of trollbertarian wankstain who honsetly believes (or, at least, says with a straight face) that trade union membership, minimum wages and caps on working times actually make things worse for workers.

There's a certain attitude out there that because we're no longer sending children up chimneys, trade unions have served whatever purpose they originally intended and should now be abolished. This overlooks the fact that there are plenty of people out there who would send children up chimneys (or whatever else in their pursuit of cheap and exploitable labour) given half the chance.

I found it echoed in an interview in today's Times with Damian Green, where he argues that the ECHR was set up to deal with big epic cases, and is now applying the same rulings that were intended for Nazi war criminals to whoever crosses its threshold (like PLU). Again overlooking the fact that very few cases come before a court with the words "Big epic case that will set important precedents and be studied for years to come" stamped on them.

See also "What's the point of the BBC, everyone can get Sky these days", and "Oh stop whinging about persecution, you're no longer getting lynched".

Simpler.
Trade Unions challenge privilege and unrestrained, brutal capitalism.
Therefore for men like McKenzie, they are a deadly enemy.

First sighting of education vouchers for some time- last person was Chris Woodhead.

Kelvin really should leave it alone and stick to puffs, Scotch people and immigrants.

I thought that Kelvin was a Scitch person and thus (By his own logic) an immugrant.
I have no idea which side he bats for, but the trend is 2/3 non PLU.

Nah, he's a public schoolboy from Dulwich, his parents were journalists.

His motto: “Look I am not here to be helpful. I am here to help myself, right, so I have no regrets how I treated some people.” With that in mind, I see no reason to read anything he writes.

When writing articles like this Kelvin should really be forced to declare an interest. Kelvin is a business partner of Rupert Murdoch who would love to set up schools in this country if they could make him a quick buck, Kelvin's wife also has a senior position with an educational publishing company which may also benefit any changes in the education system which allow more influence to the private sector.

I would have thought his children would be passed school age by now (does he have any ?)...also I would be worried about a bloke his age showing such an intense interest in school children

In the sense of wanting them to get a good education?
I think that's quite widespread...
