Maybe he's describing the Mail itself :)

Eh?

David's got dinosaurs and telegrams muddled up again, it's more common than you think.

I've got a better one

A man walked into a post office and ordered 10,000 second-class stamps as panic buying spreads in the face of looming price rises.

He spent £3,600 on the 36p stamps at Hilton Post Office in Derby.

The postmaster said "We don't get many 4 figure customers in here", and the speaking arse said "I'm not surprised at these prices".

I've lost count of the number of people eaten by T Rex on their 100th birthday.

Royal tearoom owner throws out trio of 'miserable old women' who refuse to stand for National Anthem

Owner plays anthem every day at 3pm - and it says so on the menu
Women 'shook their heads and made a scene' when music started
'Grey-haired' bunch then went to nearby church exhibition - and didn't pay

The shop owner hand-painted her own Union Flag chairs for the cafe, which even has its own ‘throne room’ - resplendent with a Union Flag toilet.

Diners enjoy high tea from her own collection of royal crockery and there is also a life-size cutout of Prince William and Kate and a knitted depiction of last year’s royal wedding.

Fucking hell that place is a tacky shithole to say the least!

To be honest by going into a cafe like that they were kind of asking for it, but still it seems as though the proprietor of this particular tackfest has very little else going on in her life if she takes that place so seriously.

I wonder who will win this Mail battle, Old Ladies Vs Hard-working White british Teashop Lady?

I took a look at the commentary. Wish I hadn't.

At the moment, the consensus seems to be that this place is (at least locally) rather well-known, and the customers should have known what to expect. Quite a few comments about the national anthem playing in cinemas and people standing to attention (really? I thought people hurried to get out) and correlating the stopping of this with the decline of the country.

The funny thng is that the owner goes on to mention the 'rude old ladies' visiting a display/event in the local church, and a seemingly throwaway line about how even the local youths stand to attention for the anthem etc. Reading between the lines, this is all pretty good publicity for this village (rather pictureskew, Wear valley, lots to do, kids won't nick your car) in the run up to the jubilee weekend. Cui Bono indeed.

I've been to Stanhope* a few times and I can't see this cafe lasting long in a place like that. I suspect it isn't really meant to, it's only just opened and I predict it will close down shortly after the Quin's Jubberly.

*it's near Shittlehope which is one of my favourite English place names :)

Is it twinned with the French town of Pissotte?

Would that be near the village of Knobcheese?

Or possibly the quaint Cotswold hamlets of Skidmark on the Crotch and Staines on the Quilt.

I'm afraid you may have been watching reruns of Carry on up the Cotswolds.

C. Hawtrey: "Chipping Norton?"
S. James: "Better than Rimming McAfee." [Dirty laugh.]
J. Sims: "Ooh, Saucy!"
S. James: "No, no, you daft old cow. That's in France!"
[Much cackling. B. Bresslaw's trousers fall down.]

There is apparently a place called Feelham on the Hill, in Cheshire.
