Sorry to be pedantic, but its Stephen Glover who wrote this shit. But yes, Heffer should crawl back under his rock.

Now thats out of the way, Glovers argument that she is an old and ill lady, so should be immune from criticism is rather poor. Her mistakes were carried out when she was Compos Mentis, and able bodied. I would imagine she was criticised at the time, and now with hindisght should still not be excused from unfavourable comments. Just because someone is old does not grant them automatic immunity from attack, nor does it automatically grant forgiveness.

That is what reading the Mail does to the brain, I could have sworn it was Hefferlump

BBC apology as Blue Peter star Konnie shares 'Tory-bashing' stage with Mayor

mis reported and biased shit with barking mad reader comment...pluis a good chance to stick a pair of tits in the story...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/a ... rtComments

Oh that's alright then, another example of left wing bias by the Brown Broadcasting Corporation courtesy of the taxpayer - how very Stalinist! It is about time the license fee TAX was stopped and this left wing lot were allowed to roam the media jungle in a competitive manner! What do you think Gordy?

- Gh, Darwen, Lancs

How dare this person use taxpayers' money (the BBC) to display her own political bias. Sack her!

- Kb, Trowbridge

how exactly is she spending taxpayers money?

What's all the fuss about? This is a Blue Peter presenter we're talking about. Encouraging kids to cycle rather than sit in front of the TV seems like a good idea. The only exercise Brian Coleman gets is jumping to conclusions.

- Mike, Dunstable, England

Um yeah, stop speaking sense. It upsets everyone else.

Alan Conwell is an evil alien invader from a 50s B movie.

From the article itself:

Quote:
In what was widely regarded as one of the most obsequious interviews of his time in power, she managed to elicit from him the important information that No10 is like "a Tardis", his most important guest there was President Bush and his favourite dish was spaghetti Bolognese.

But she failed to touch upon the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, the financial crisis that was gripping the NHS or Labour's cashforhonours row.

Oh aye, the kids love discussion the NHS' finances.

this thatcher story ..im confused mais have printed comments calling her an old hag...

Oh how the world could use Maggie now. Too bad we can't find another Reagan in the States while we're at it.

- Charlotte, Washington, USA

Mrs Thatcher swear, not likely, I have no time for Maggie, but I will spring to her rescue in this matter. Only people who have a poor command of the English language find a need to swear. People like Gordon Ramsey, and Bob Geldof. The reason the NHS is in a mess is because of the changes Maggie made, Trust status makes hospitals answerable to only themselves. Don't blame Labour, Blame Maggie Thatcher, unforgivable!

- Rayb, Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Well, I loathe the woman!
She helped to effectively destroy the social fabric of this country and ruined our industrial base. I was a young university lecturer when she came to power and I watched in dismay as her government turned our universities from academic institutions managed by competent academics into institutions operated by accountants where the business ethic dominated. She starved the NHS of funding that has taken years to only partly redress. Her policy of privatisation put the profit motive into areas in which the customer should be paramount.
However, I also think little of the current government, whilst the opposition parties have nothing to offer. But it was Thatcher that initiated the downward spiral. The only policy of hers that made sense was the attempt to prevent unrestricted immigration which is the antithesis of the current government's policy and the damage that this has done is now irreversible.

- D James, Lancashire, UK

"...as a publicly funded body is supposed to be neutral and even-handed ". Wrong! The charter may call for news reporting to be so but there is no obligation, nor is it desirable, to be neutral in the area of drama. Functions of good drama include being controversial and not being even-handed. What does this mean anyway? It is not neutral and not even-handed because it disagrees with the obviously right-wing views of Stephen Glover. So what? There have been equally right-wing views of left-wing productions and they are equally acceptable. We live, or I thought we lived, in a free society.

- James Danvers, London

It's time the Beeb stood on its own feet.
Abolish the licence tax.

I am very pleased you have published this article.
The BBC "ignorati" (my word I think) have always hated Lady Thatcher.
I cannot, at the end of the day see the rationale for this stance, as she was without a shred of a doubt the greatest Prime Minister so far in my lifetime.
I worked for the BBC from 81-83.
I will not go into the Falklands campaign here but their main gripe at the time was the closing down of world service studios around the world.
Posters where pinned on almost every BBC owned building noticeboard, in particular Kensington House, that shouted out - "stop the Thatcher axe"

- Rob Harrison, Hull, East Yorks.

Inventing a word doesn't mean you're right. And since the government decides BBC funding, it's not unreasonable for people at the BBC to blame the government of the day for cuts.

Quote:
Mrs Thatcher might not use swear words, but great swathes of this country use swearwords when Mrs Thatcher's name is mentioned. If we are all Thatcher's children then it is a great pity many of us weren't taken into care before she inflicted the damage on us that many are still suffering from. It always astounds me when people like Stephen Glover express amazement that she is so reviled in much of this nation. If you think the BBC demonises her, then take a trip from the sheltered leafy groves of the Home Counties and into Wales, the North or Scotland, mention her in conversations and you will hear some real demonising.

- Andrew, Olney, UK

I think Andrew, Olney is one of us? The mods seem quite generous today...

If I was in charge of the BBC, I'd be so tempted to run a day of 'Why the Mail is a hypocritical pile of ass' programmes, on all channels.

Of course I'd lose my job, but who cares?!

Someone at the bbc actually did do something unpleasant, wonder how long until the Mail pick this up...

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?tit ... id=9152976

For those who don't understand the page, wikipedia can be edited by anyone, and keeps a record of all changes. The ip above the revision edited the page and changed walker to wanker as indicated by the red highlight. Hilarious
The ip that edited it - 132.185.240.120 resolves to ... webgw0.thls.bbc.co.uk
I'm not sure if thls is cryptic for something, or just some piece of kit they've got but basically, someone at the bbc, on a work server, vandalised GW's page.

Oops.

I'm gonna have to start watching Blue Peter again. Even though it clashes with Nina & The Neurons.
