Spray on marmite?

Yeah, the stuff you get in flagons from Anne Summers and apply with a B&Q stirrup pump, remember?

The yeast is really good for your skin too.

...can anyone else hear a dog whistle?

NHS removes word 'Dad' from pregnancy handbook in case it offends same sex couples

...yeah

quotes from all the usual suspects, and a bunch of claims about money wasting that are just bullshit; as the spokesperson points out, this kind of stuff is constantly being reviewed and reprinted, this time a minor change of language is one of the reviews, it didn't cost anymore than the scheduled reprint was going to already.

extra dog whistle points to the picture editor for including an image of two men, even though the leaflet* in question is handed out to women, thus the couples the change is aimed at would actually be lesbians (and single woman being helped through pregnancy by friends and family, some of whom probably really do appreciate not having the term "dad" turning up in every bit of reading they're given).

*that's leaflet, not handbook, there is a handbook, but that's not being changed, soo...some points for lying as well.

Honestly surprised the leaflet still included the word Dad, for the reasons you already gave.

The anti-gay rentaquote returns. I love how their group is called 'Comment' on Reproductive Ethics. It gives me the image of them doing nothing but looking at gay people and going "Tut, tut. That will end badly, always does, you know."

Do we think Chris, Tamworth is our friendly neighbourhood Independant (I am only helping a friend by delivering leaflets for the BNP) councillor? He doesn't seem to have been around for a while.

They're out in force on this one. Contender for stupidly long headline, too.

Original Green Lantern superhero is latest comic book character to be 'outed' as gay in new revamp of popular series

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2153167/Original-Green-Lantern-character-outed-gay-new-revamp-popular-comic-books.html

A "ramming it down my throat" is best rated.

Incredible stupidity can often be confused with bravery.

Reading Hitchens demonstrates that.

On the big screen the Green Lantern is known for his slick one-liners to blushing women, but now the original intergalactic crime fighter is to be outed as gay.

That's because Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern is not the same character. Idiots.

Kudos to them for mentioning Batwoman, but fuck them for reducing her to a panel of kissing and a post-coital scene. That shit makes up only a small amount of the material involving her.

When they had John Stewart as the Green Lantern, I wonder if they did a similar "PC Gone Mad!" angle?

As far as I'm aware, there have been obviously gay comic book characters since at least as far back as the fifties (or "the golden years" as they supposedly were).

I wonder how the enraged commenters on that article would feel about their parents and grandparents reading that filth?

It's not brave to live your life surrounded by bigotry but do the best you can to be proud of yourself and get on anyway, oh no. It's brave to be a bigot.

There was an excellent article in the i about this, pointing out that it was hardly that revolutionary either.
