Crikey. This is mandatory stuff? Unlike that stuff from Ed Balls he moaned about which was guidance, and could be filed away and consulted if ever it were relevant? (ie you don't have to bother reading about traveller children if you don't have any, but if some did join your school, you might take a look at it)

Newly Qualified Teachers in their first year get
• Reduced timetable
• Experienced staff mentor
• Extra training days
• school-based training programme
• programme of observation of experienced teachers

All of which costs money, which academies would rather not spend. It also means an extra check on them, as it happens in co-ordination with a teacher training institution.

Ah right.

So less training, more work.

Yep. And most importantly fewer nosey parkers sniffing around Gove's pet project.

Looks that way. But mostly freedom from the responsibility, I suspect. And having to take on inexperienced teachers.

Now I want no laughing.

Mr Gove has set out his latest requirements for primary maths.

In Year 3 all children will be required to learn the Roman numerals I - XII (so that they can read the face of a clock)
In Year 4 they will learn I-C (1-100) No idea why.
In Year 5 they will learn I-M (1 - 1000) so that they can write the year in Roman numerals.

I said no laughing. Isaacs, I'm looking at you.

This doesn't mean that he has lost sight of the requirements he set out for slimming down the curriculum (not that this is a curriculum, it's a scheme of work) and removing unnecessary nonsense.

Abernathy - I won't warn you again. Stop giggling, boy.

He said the curriculum would only include the most essential items and concepts.

Somebody slap Storygirl on the back before she chokes, please.

That'll be excellent if the Romans decide to invade again and we want to trade with them.
Wouldn't Pashtun be a bit more useful these days?

IV, something I'd like to hook Gove up to. Preferably filled with Propofol.

Someone on Twitter accused Pob of having Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I don't know much about NPD, so I looked it up. This is Wiki's description of someone exhibiting symptoms:

Wiki wrote:
The symptoms of Narcissistic personality disorder can be similar to the traits of individuals with strong self-esteem and confidence; differentiation occurs when the underlying psychological structures of these traits are considered pathological. Narcissists have such an elevated sense of self-worth that they value themselves as inherently better than others. Yet, they have a fragile self-esteem and cannot handle criticism, and will often try to compensate for this inner fragility by belittling or disparaging others in an attempt to validate their own self-worth. It is this sadistic tendency that is characteristic of narcissism as opposed to other psychological conditions affecting level of self-worth.

Yup.

The whole article is worth a read.
