Looks like a botched hair transplant.....

When I came out of the operation an agency nurse switched a massive light on right above my head and could not turn it off.

That'll be a "No" them.....

Quite a good one in the Manchester Evening News today. Looks more vaguely psychotic than sad to me, though.

A clothes store has launched an investigation after a student was told to lie about her income to get more credit on a store card.

A worker at Manchester Arndale’s Topshop store told student Holly Ainsthorpe to make up how much money she received each month so she would receive more credit.

She looks like she's about to deliver a knuckle sandwich.

We had sent Holly, 20, into several stores around Manchester city centre to see how easy it would be for a student, with no means to pay off a debt, to be given credit.

Identifying someone used in a sting operation doesn't strike me as a good idea.

Not to mention the fact that her credit file is now covered in search footprints.

War hero likens housing association to Third Reich

A WAR hero told to pay the rent on his lock-up garage by direct debit or face losing it has compared a housing association to the Third Reich.

Yes Hitler was keen on his direct debit payments

Of course the Housing Association have bent over backwards to accommodate him so he goes to the press complaining they are like German Officials during the second world war.

Couldn't they sue him or the newspaper for slander?

And of course, Paragraph 19 applies:

Quote:
Head of housing for Affinity Sutton Sarah Paton said: “We have spoken to Mr George and explained to him why we are asking all our garage licensees to pay by direct debit but that given his personal circumstances we are happy for him to continue to pay using his payment card."

More to the point, the article offers no information as to why he can't set up a direct debit. What is this payment card business? Does it mean he has no bank account?

Comment sums it up. Headline should read, "Man asked to pay by direct debit".

After a few quiet weeks, this is a welcome return to top-quality sadfacing.

A War Hero with a grumpy expression AND he's holding the letter.

The only negatives are that he's not wearing any medals, and the fact that after the war he became a civil servant.

Which, being the case, presumably means he's now a millionaire, and could pay the rent with gold coins from his index-linked gold-plated tax-payer funded pension?

Me mams the same, and she's only a mere 83 and not a war hero. She will only use direct debits under sufferance because she doesn't like the idea of someone knowing her bank details like her name, sort code and account number, she'd prefer to pay by cheque. Yes, I know.

Apparently she heard someone on that BBC leftie Moneybox who had a problem with direct debits so that was that.

Mr George was an RAF ground crew officer who enlisted in 1939 aged 18.
He served in the war until the bitter end in 1946 and was based off the Dover coast and in Africa.

The threshold for heroism appears to have been diluted again.
(No slight intended to this old gent - maybe I should have posted this in a sport are troops list).
