Grandmother who has brushed doorstep for 62 years told by council she could face court

Headline suggests that the council as an entity threatened old lady with court for sweeping leaves.

Story says that a council worker knocked on her door and told her she could be fined for sweeping leaves. Neighbours told worker to go f*ck himself. Council then cleared the matter up saying she wouldn't be fined and nor would anyone else for sweeping leaves.

As a special bonus, it's all blamed on political correctness, which even by the stretchiest of definitions has nothing to do with being fined for sweeping leaves.

Not quite sure where to post this story, but it surely falls within it's own "what has their religion got to do with anything?" category.

I await an avalanche of stories highlighting the subject's Christian faith.

Actually think its done to highlight that these darkies are savages as the mails basically read by middleaged, middleclass, christian whites it reinforces their predujices

The underlying message appears to be "different cultures shouldn't mix - it only leads to trouble" which is basically the BNP's sanitised-for-public-consumption version of "we don't like darkies living in the same country as us"

think we're reading to much into that headline, don't quite see how simply saying someone happens to be a Sikh or Muslim constitutes racism

'Presbyterian student jailed for stabbing murder of pregnant Anglican love rival'

I'd imagine there is in the USA, they have more freedom of the press over there

Kissing gates and stiles are under threat from political correctness

This was on the radio this morning as well. Headline as above, but the story is actually about the UK Disabled People's Council asking that more stiles and kissing gates be changed to allow wheelchair access in places where the path is suitable. In other words, wheelchair users are finding that they can use certain paths up to a point where it is obstructed by a stile or kissing gate. Clearly, it would be stupid to provide wheelchair access to a muddy field or rocky path, but that hasn't stopped the Mail implying as much. Oh, and it has fuck all to do with 'politcal correctness'. It's about discrimination against disabled people. How low can you go?

actually she was demanding access for those huge motorised things fat people ride round on, she wasn't being reasonable by any stretch of the imagination - it's bad enough getting barged into in the supermarkets by these grossly impolite people last thing we need is them charging along footpaths screaming "get out of the way I'm disabled"
