Sorry, I take that last comment back. The Guardian has a photo of said protesters. Still loving the teddy pic though.

Like how they put 'file picture' next to it, like we thought it was a genuine pic of a muslim woman popping in to by a teddy.

That said, daft things like this don't exactly help the Muslim cause do they? Although untill you get to the pic of the bloke holding the paper they could be demonstrating about anything, since most readers probably don't speak Urdu/Arabic.

How much of it was ordered by the Sudanese govenment I wonder :?:

Aye - the protests are usually carefully orchestrated and people chant about all manner of things.

Hospital staff told to make sure Muslim patients' beds face Mecca five times a day

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/a ... ge_id=1770

I think the key words are " only if the patient requests it".

Interestingly, according to the news report on the R4 Today programme this morning, only "a handfull" of protesters were chanting for her to be executed. Quite a nasty thing to exaggerate when you think about it...

Anyway, sorry to Paul for looping around his post about the Muslim hospital patients in Yorkshire. This is an appalling story once again designed to stir up ill feeling within and against the Muslim community :(

To fill everyone in, according to the local news this is for terminally ill patients (who request it) only, not Muslims in general.

Bit confused about this bit:
Quote:
In a bid to promote cultural understanding, they are also expected to provide patients with running water so they can wash before prayer.

Would have thought that a hospital which didn't have running water would be a pretty unpleasent place

that would be how we managed to rule half the world 100 or so years ago then, tosser :x

I really feel like complaining about this one. It's just so badly skewed. What are they trying to achieve exactly?

As a service to all Daily Mail readers who, apparently, are unable to read any print smaller than 20pt or whatever of the title, Culfy answers your questions.

Firstly, from Yvette Lewis of Plymouth Devon "What if there's a medical emergency of a non-muslim at the prayer time when all the nurses will be busy turning the beds?"

Answer "If the measure is deemed "practically possible" and does not impinge on other patients, then it should be carried out." so in other words in the article which you only read the headline of, it specifically states that the bed should only be turned if it doesn't impinge on other patients and is practically possible.

Secondly from John Groves in somewhere called the United Kingdom "What would happen if their time wasting 'bed-moving duties' meant that a patient suffers?". Again, the answer is In The Fucking Article.

And finally from Jacqui in Staffordshire "Would this happen if we had to go into a hospital abroad?" Well, that's an interesting question Jacqui, to which the answer is "What the fuck do you mean 'would this happen' and 'abroad'? Would they turn beds about it Saudi Arabia? Probably. Would they turn beds about in America? Probably, if you're paying for incredibly expensive private medical insurance. But what the fuck difference does it make what they do in other countries, or are you suggesting that we should slavishly adhere to other countrys' ways of life rather than our customs of tolerance?"

Sorry, I feel so much better now.

It's scary isn't it.

The mail often misses out or skews info in their article leading to ignorant comments. But when they do actually include the info in their articles and you still get those comments... just makes me want to .. cut off their net access grr.

Headline has now changed to "Community leaders play down 'race' factor in stabbing of model Muslim student" and they've disabled comments.

And now it's "Was muslim 'model student' the victim of a race murder?"

Why is 'model student' in quote marks? Its hardly slanderous, is it? I have a strong feeling those quote marks would be absent if either his race/religion were different.

I see. They've added together all of the variants of Mohammed. But they haven't added Jack to John and Ian and Ivan and Ewan and Sean and Siôn and Jean and Ifan etc. etc. etc.

Cunts.

Quite right. On the list it shows 'Mohammed (and variants)' in second. But Mohammed also crops up in 17th - if taken as read without the variations.

But anyway, it's all academic. It's a name. Are DM seriously implying this list proves the country's gone to the dogs?

Mohammed is the most popular name in the world. I would expect it to be popular over here.
