I look forward to seeing the Whingers and their Commander in Chief Whinger, Richard Littlejohn, try and come to terms with this story. Mr Littledick is inordinately proud of coining his damn clever soubriquet 'Elfin Safety', a less than generous, nay, pejorative, term for all those bossy jobsworths who insist on things being done properly.

It ain't in The Mail yet, they're probably running around in circles and bumping into each other as their synapses explode with the near impossible task of doing a volte face. But they'll manage admirably. The name sounds a bit foreign and the photo of the artist... well... is he gay?

As we know, the Mail is dead set against the Elf and Safety Nazis who are interfering with our right to do anything we want.

But wait...

In cases like these it's elf 'n safety not gone mad enough, always.

I don't see what's so 'killjoy' about handing out a leafleft advising children how look after crabs.

Thankfully, there's a few sane comments there, but the usual.

They're not even banning it for fuck's sake, what's the problem?

Something that hasn't happened before = bad.

Fucking hell. Do these people have a tax statement where their soul should be?

Council orders pensioners to take down plastic flowers - because they are health and safety risk

Yet another hit for health & safety jobsworths, they must live a really sad life.

Hello again John. I for once value your opinion here, after all spending the day commenting on the DM website gives you a unique insight into a sad life

How the right-wing ‘Elf and Safety lie-campaign killed field-trips and dissection

As with almost all the Health and Safety scares that periodically ripple through Britain, it is the Littlejohnian lies trumped up by the press – rather than the laws themselves – that are the problem.

At least the left is comfortable with criticism. I have a friend who, for their sins, works for the moderating team on "The Mail Online", and they are forbidden from posting any comment which implicitly criticizes or is derogatory towards the paper or any columnist. Especially Littlejohn, who has been known to come hunting for the team when he reads some comment he doesn't like...

Who would have thought that.

Also, is "Littlejohnian" now a word, and would one pronounce it "little-jon-ian" or "little-jone-ian"?

Mail readers at their finest! They usually harp on and on about hospital-acquired infection. Except when it means having a go at the 'elf and safety killjoys'. And of course, the cards haven't be banned at all.

I'd have thought that these jobsworths would have been better off spending their time sorting out the filth that causes MRSA et al in our hospitals!

This has got to be a joke! If not, just where are our hospitals going too. It is hell in hospital before this, and these cards do cheer one up!

- John Rodwell, Rye, East Sussex, England, 13/8/2008 6:45

Quote:
I wouldn't be surprised to wake up one day and find that they have banned patients from the hospitals as well. These health ans so called safety people are stark raving bonkers.

Because you're an idiot?

Quote:
You know, I never thought I'd support 'elf and safety', but on this one they may be right, I'm a nurse and believe me some people have so many cards it's like a branch of Clintons. Now, you try doing a job when there are cards falling off the dresser, you can't put anything down because the tops are cluttered. Let's face it, you don't need a card to say 'get well' in hospital, in fact if you want to offer a gesture of goodwill to your loved one make sure you have washed and disinfected your hands before you set foot on the ward.

- Chris, Yorkshire, 13/8/2008 8:08

Thank you Chris.

Richard Littlejohn?

Although I don't object to having a post title improved by the moderators on MailWatch I feel that Latent Cocksucker falls far short of the mark. Can I recommend 'Nanfister'* as a more effective soubriquet for our Richard.

Richard Littlejohn......

The filter reminds me of the pitfalls. When Windows 95 came out it revolutionised the office but many secretaries only had knowledge of the word processing part. A childish member of this forum......used the autocorrect on WordPerfect to replace Everton with SHIT as some in the office were of a different religious orientation to others. I, erm He forgot to turn this off with the result that a letter went out to an address in Everton (a district of Liverpool for outsiders). Don't think it got there as we heard nothing after but it was a bit nervy for weeks.

I tell you what's even better, if I try to delete the word filters, I get an error. I can only re-edit them
