I must be in a minority in thinking that the Olympics are fun, and we should celebrate the fact that our sportsmen and women are the best in the world instead of moaning about how much it costs or who broadcasts it or making cheap pops at other countries.

Not surprised you're in a care home.

Shit off. Those athletes must be feeling bloody fantastic right now, and you can't value that...well, maybe David in London can.

How are they politically correct? Team GB is, I'd hope, pure meritocracy.

Aren't these, you know, the same sort of people who complain that the PC Brigade has banned being proud of Britain etc etc endlessly?

I mean, I know the hypocrisy shouldn't surprise me, but it still does.

So true.

They moaned at the Euston rennovation for the channel tunnel too. A wonderful engineering feat, and BAM, moan moan.

Fuck's sake. Great Britain (you see! they haven't taken the Great out of it after all) does something brilliant and they're still not happy.

Fuck 'em. The rest of us can enjoy the Olympics in the right spirit. By which I mean sitting on the sofa and viciously criticising highly-trained althletes at their physical peak for narrowly failing to do something the rest of couldn't even begin to attempt. While eating cheese.

The oh-so-patriotic commentators at the Daily Mail would prefer that we did appallingly in the Olympics just so they could blame it on New Labour and have another good moan. Sad fuckers.

Talking to my 22 year old daughter when the national anthem was played during a Gold award cermony. I asked if she was taught the national Anthem at school (she knew the words because I had taught her it when she was younger) She said she could never remember being taught the national anthem while at School.

It has made me wonder how many British Children are missing out on their heritage due to the fear of insulting those from other backgrounds.

OH and a huge CONGRATULATIONS too all our sports men and women who have dedicated their lives to represent our country on the world stage.

- tricia, newcastle, 17/8/2008 11:17

there are loads of other things that schools have to teach kids and somehow i don't think the national anthem is the most important of them. in other words: get a life!

I have added the following to the Comments...

It is Gordon Brown who has put the GB back in Great Britain. Under his stewardship and in just over a year, he has transformed the ccountry into worldbeaters!

In 18 months time we will se the triumphant return of Team GB, or Team Gordon Brown elected back into office by a grateful electorate!

St. Pancras then. My knowledge is lacking, my point stands.

If I don't make it. Hah! ^^

In other news, 606 has a lot of moaning about the British performance: why can't we win EVERYTHING eh?!!!!
