David Dimbleby 'furious' over BBC's plans to move the making of Question Time away from Westminster to Scotland

How is it 'politically correct' to make a television programme in a different part of the country?

I asked why the Daily Mail always refers to Scotland as if it was just another county of England and if it was because it assumed its readers were too thick and or ignorant to know anything about Scottish geography other than Glasgow/Edinburgh/The Highlands. Needless to say the comment wasn't published. Funny that :D

Bollocks to him. Get someone who wants to do the job.

I also note that they're moving Crimewatch to Wales. They could do the whole thing live from Swansea city centre and not have to spend money on a single reconstruction. Don't have nightmares. Unless you live in Townhill.

Scots bid to scupper £12billion HBOS takeover: We can run the bank without Lloyds TSB merger, say businessmen

Quote:
It was also the Scots (HBOS & RBS) banks who refused to pass on the interest rate drop after being bailed out mainly by English taxpayers.

- Sue, Leeds, 9/11/2008 6:31

Quote:
Should your headline read "We can RUIN the bank without Lloyds"? As far as I can see it is the Scottish arm of HBOS that did the damage and this pair will no doubt reward them by concentrating on the Scottish site at the expense of the English.

Let Scotland run it (without the handout) I as an English person am fed up with the Scots wingeing all the time; having advantages that we the English residents do not have. Another thing I find peculiar is that the percentage of people who want independence in Scotland has dropped since the financial crisis!!! I wonder why........ perhaps they realise which side their bread is buttered.

Because it will give them jobs. Jobs! The flaming Scots will have money, which they will spend on haggis and bagpipes and Irn-Bru and deep fried Mars Bars!

Who will stop this PC nonsense?

(I know I'm late on this story, but I missed this particular stupidity the first time aroud).

Scottish accent is most 'calming' in times of crisis

Yep, you've probably already guessed exactly where this one's going. And you're right...

Not when I hear Gordon Browns dulcet tones, I always come out in a cold sweat or fall about laughing...

Utter rubbish! Although I admit to liking Sean Connery's voice.

The more I hear of the Scottish accent spoken by Brown et al, the more it grinds me into the ground

Gordon Brown has a Scottish accent and his is the last voice anyone in their right mind would want to hear in an emergency. Perhaps Sean Connery backs Brown, I wouldn't know, but there can't be any other comparison between them.

It is most definitely not calming when it comes from the mouths of Brown and Darling. In fact, it strikes dread into most people as we wonder just what they've screwed up this time.

Er, far from it.

Probably not, but that's never stopped him telling everyone else to vote SNP...

One could be really unkind and say Lord Rothermere never had a vote in Germany in the 1930s at this juncture by way of comparison, however I shan't just to spite you all

In 2007-08, 56 per cent of economic activity flowed from public spending, compared with 43 per cent in the UK as a whole, which is ranked 42nd in the world.

The figure for Scotland is expected to rise dramatically over the next three years due to a combination of higher unemployment and a shrinking private sector.

Well, isn't it entirely possible that other countries ranked above Scotland for public spending, might experience rising unemployment and shrinking private sectors?

Brown has looked after his own. Independence for England, and no Scots in our parliament.

Since when were there Scots in the French parliament?
