I can't wait, and you can bet I've never said that about Question Time before. :)

The person who suggested Eddie Izzard had a pretty good idea there, but I suppose that by adding a popular entertainment figure to the panel on BNP night, Griffin and party would only complain that it's a mark of how they aren't "taken as seriously" as other parties.

I'm pretty sure Jack Straw will be expecting some mention of his veil comment, or if not will at least have planned a responce just in case, so even that shouldn't cause a problem, or at least I hope not.

Aside from that I'm pretty pleased with the lineup, Bonnie Greer in particular.
BBC-haters can gardly call them biased if they are prepared to give airtime to Griffin, but that's probably the reason he's going to be there at all.

Let's see just what he's prepared to say while she's sat there, that'll be worth watching.

One idea which struck me was to have someone like Kelvin Mackenzie on as a guest, because that way we could have killed two birds with one stone. On the one hand, they couldn't be seen to be agreeing with the BNP as they'd lose all credibility with their non-rabid readership, but on the other hand Griffin could probably quote bits of their columns back at them as evidence for their support for him.

Or Gaunt. Or indeed Clarkson, as I'd imagine mad as he sometimes is he probably doesn't have much time for Griffin, and it'd really vex the whole "Clarkson for PM" types who love the BNP.

Wouldn't that just restrict the public debate? Let's debate the issue of immigration... and here are two extreme right-wingers to do so!

When you engineer a debate so that Hitchens is the moderate option...

Having just watched another show he was in, what about Reginald D. Hunter? He'd have run rings around Griffin and left him a gibbering wreck in my opinion.

Been that way since 2004, wouldn't surprise me if they were equally kind to the referendum party way back when.

The fucktard has just made the most incoherent, rambling statement about Afghanistan, and the halfwits are clapping him, because he said 'trooopz owt'. The proper politicians are being fairly sensible and balanced. Joanie Bakewell seems to have lost it as well (have you read her article on how she, as a non-smoker, wants to stockpile cigarettes because there are now laws governing smoking?).

I wouldn't build your hopes up. No matter how it goes the BNP will deem it to have been a success. If someone clearly beats him in an argument they'll say something like "we touched a nerve there" etc. It's a win-win situation for them.

And, of course, if it really goes tits up for him, then it would all be a lefty BBC trick anyway...

Did anyone listen to the Jeremy Vine show today? They had a comedian with immigrant parents and the deputy leader of the BNP debating the whole BNP membership thing.

Comedian guy said the BNP was racist, whereupon the BNP started shouting about how he wasn't very funny for a comedian (he wasn't trying to be, obviously) and how he'd passed himself off as a harmless comedian and then started coming out with 'extreme anti-white vitriol'. Twat.

Happens at just after 0:42:00 if you want to check on the iPlayer.

Yeah I heard it. Did you notice that the BNP bloke never refered to the comedian by his name throughout the whole interview. It's like trying to debate with concrete with these BNP types, they just throw all that "your just anti-white" passive aggressive rhetoric nonsense at you.

Jeremy had him stumped for a bit when he asked [BNP deputy] if he felt more kinship with a white Polish national than an Asian British person though.
