you know the kind, and you end up with several following the sam thing:

Lets find Madeline, 1000000 members to help find Maddie, help find Madeline McCann

Stop child abuse now, lets stop child abuse, memorial for baby P.

Help for heros, remember our boys in afghan, sack the guy who refused to serve the lady with a help for heroes wristband.

Do people honestly think being a member of a fb group will have the same effect as signing a petition, delivering it to the doorstep of number 10 where it can be ignored?

Nope, but it allows them to vent their spleens with those of simmilar views and linguistic shortcomings about subjects like the "police farce", Gordun McBroon and NuLiebour, Evil Hackney Council e.c.t
It's like their own armchair revolution, but they're online this time rather than shouting their own solutions to these issues at the television news every night.

They can console themselves that there are others who feel the same way, without having to actualy coordinate their efforts and do anything.

The ones that really get me are the "STOP HE GOVERNMENT BANNING ST GEORGES DAY / English flag" type groups, usually full of paranoid nutters.

Though, to be fair, they've been successful ... after all, the government hasn't banned St. George's Day or the English flag, has it?

It's the ones that have no conceivable reason to exist other than noting that certain things happen. I once saw one entitled "I flip my pillow over to get the cold side". Now what the earthly fuck would be achieved by creating or joining that group?

Seems as good place as any to post this

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! BOYCOTT ASDA!'s

Basically, some silly fool at an ASDA in Rotheram refused to serve a woman wearing a 'support our troops' wristband. ASDA initially didn't take any action but have done now. Dosn't stop the 'i'm not racist but...' brigade though

So i decided to have a bit of a play:

Quote:
Isobel Mccash: GIVE BRITAIN BACK TO THE BRITISH!!!!!!!!!

ME: from whom pray tell??

Isobel Mccash: From all the non british communities expanding across our country living a non british way and unwilling to fit in. Look at leicester,Bradford ect.

ME: Been to Bradford recently then? I live there and enjoy the exciting, multicultural and diverse environment. There wouldn't be as many problems with racial segregation if white people didn't up sticks and move to the suburbs as soon as they see some 'muzzies' moving in next door.

Isobel Mccash: Yes i have funny enough and to see the dress code scunners me, if i went to thier country and wore a short skirt would it be allowed and the fact i have a child who was frightened when he was close to women with just thier eyes showing. My son is in the army and does,nt agree with the war however he will still have to go to do his so-called duty, ... Read Moreit would be nice to think that ALL british citizens will support him and the others instead of being british only when it suits them whilst still holding TRUE beliefs in thier home countries customs and causes. I suggest the camel does,nt belong in britain either so it may be an idea to take it to its homeland and you possibly live with it.

The bit about the camel is monomentally thick, my profile picture is from a holiday to 'tgypt for fucks sake!

the stupidity of these people beggers belief sometimes

I'm not on Facebook but if I was I'd set up a "Ban Pointless Facebook Groups" group. :D

Oh wait....sorry.

My previous post ISN'T about a 'pointless' facebook group. In fact, in my opinion, it's just about the most important Facebook group there is.

My ex-girlfriend joined the pillow flipping group. And she did (flip pillows) frequently.

Scunner - wasn't he a character in Supergran?

And finally, for anyone trotting out the old "Well, they wouldn't let me walk around in a miniskirt in Saudi/Iran/Wherever" argument, here is the appropriate response:

"Yes, I agree they wouldn't let you and that is a shame. But it's basically because their system of government and society is a feudalistic monarcy/theocracy/dictatorship/etc while ours is a Liberal Democracy. And while this isn't perfect, it's better to combat prejudice and injustice through tolerance and understanding than by confronting it with simply another set of prejudices in the opposite direction."
