I like how he tries to defend himself by saying Roger Ebert hated it too. Thing is, Ebert was concerned that little kids will be watching it (it's rated R in the States, so any kid can see it if they're accompanied by an adult) and he doesn't say a single word about Hit-Girl being sexy.

Tookey says again:
Quote:
The movie's writers clearly wanted the audience to see Hit-Girl not only as cool, but also as sexy, like an even younger version of the baby-faced oriental assassin in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.
This is the disturbing bit, more than saying that the violence is sexualised. Why does he imagine we're meant to find the little girl sexy? He never says.

Judging everybody by his own, er, Glitteresque predilections perhaps?

hmm, the four lions review is up, anyone who has seen he film want to take a peak at it?

i started reading, but i've not seen the film yet (and really want to) and it looks like tookey has no concept of how to not spoil something in a review.
i might be wrong, but obviously i don't want to risk it.

We saw it this afternoon in a cinema with about a dozen other people. It was great!

On the subject of Chris Tookey, the next movie he will call to be banned will be 'The Killer inside Me' when it comes out on Friday,I can still remember what he did to 'Crash' in 1997,that's when I first knew of him.

Just to bump this tread up but can any of you remember his review of Hot Fuzz,in which he got a stick up his ass about the fact that the bad guys where middle-class people, and I think he said that middle-class people don't commit crime?

Erm that's half the Gag isn't it? That Sleepy Gloucestershire villages aren't hot usually hotbeds of crime? Unless of course you count Stroud, that really is a shithole.

I do remember him commenting on the fact that Point Break and Bad Boys 2 weren't very good films and because Hot Fuzz references them that must make Hot Fuzz a bad film as well. A frankly bizarre way to judge a film.
