It's not an Austin Maxi.
Indeed it is not - it is a BMC 1800/2200 - more on this superb Austin Rover Morris website:

Bit of a double-edged sword for DM readers - golden days of British car building; born out of middle England - GOOD
- those ghastly trade unionist types and workers not knowing their place - BAD

Keep taking English and maths GCSE till you get a good grade

Oh the ironing is just delicious here. Maybe Mail journalists should keep taking English GCSE 'till' they can write a headline correctly. None of the comments seem to have picked up on it yet, everybody is too busy working up a masturbatorial froth about ZaNuLieBore, birching, Media Studies and Broken Britain.

The headline:
How blundering MoD paid £22 each for lightbulbs... when they only cost 65p
By Daily Mail Reporter

The facts:
"The Ministry of Defence has dismissed newspaper reports that it has been paying more than £20 for light bulbs that can be bought for 65p elsewhere. It insists the bulbs are highly specialised parts for a radar system. A MoD spokesman said: "It was a precision-made lamp filament for the Watchman radar. The MoD purchases about five per year"
They seem to have nicked this from the Sun which has had the sense to take it off its website.

Unmoderated comments - great opportunity for a kicking.

The Japanese road repaired SIX days after it was destroyed by quake

Beautifully illustrated by before repair and after repair photos

Image

I was going to comment that this was an amazing achievement and, compare it to how long it would take us to do the same here, which would have been quite unlike me and probably what the Mail's desired response would be.

Except there's this comment:
Funny how they appear to have repaired the road including rust on the barriers, and a worn surface. Oh, wait, no, it's not funny. The "after" picture was taken before the earthquake. A friend who lives in Japan says that the Joban Expressway (which is what this road is - not the "Great Kanto Highway" - ou can verify this for yourself on Google Maps) is still broken and unpassable. What's your source, Daily Mail?

So then... who do you trust more- the Mail or Tim M? I'm with Mr M.

The trees are also in a different season, which leadsme to conclude.

Either: The japanese road crew deployed a fancy time travel machine to get the job done so fast, and have left the repaired road in autumn.

Or: The Mail might be telling porkies.

A report with the heading Former Labour MP’s daughter held by Italian police for being drunk told officers 'she was the daughter of Cabinet minister’ incorrectly identified Kathryn Emily Andrews as the daughter of former Labour MP Robert Marshall-Andrews.

In fact, neither Mr Marshall-Andrews nor his daughter Laura were in any way connected to the incident.

We apologise to them for the misunderstanding and any embarrassment caused.
Never mind, I'm sure the rest of the article was spot on.

I didn't know the Top Gear tour went to St Tropez (insert other destination where warmth and blue sea combine as that clearly isn't fucking Scarborough)?
