Here’s one #ClapForBoris Tory MP. Any evidence his senior cabinet colleagues followed suit? ‬
Unimpressive, compared to the crowd's she'd have witnessed clapping "Hang Nelson Mandela"

Absolutely nailed on for a conference speech come October.
Brings back unpleasant memories of a greasy, spotty William Hague "wowing" the 1977 Conservative Party conference.

Imagine being that young and deciding "Yep, the Tories are the party for me".

Hope you don't know something we don't.

If there's anyone the Tories love to use, it's anyone who doesn't fit the stereotype- young, BME, they're both ripe for being patted on the head and fast-tracked until they've fulfilled their use.

A young Tory chairman ploughs a lonely furrow
Further proof that young conservatives are fucking weird.

Because for a lot of people, Tory is the default option. See John O'Farrell on campaigning in the home counties - "I'm not interested in politics means I'm voting Tory".

Because sad to say I think the majority of the population of this country actually do, or have done up to now, embrace conservative values.

They just then seem to have some kind of fit of conscience every now and again.

But stay optimistic I suppose.

Xenophobia, hypocrisy, deference, distrust of anything that's a bit different, dislike of intelligence, revelling in ignorance, loathing of anyone who gets above themself. The biggest surprise is that we ever elect a Labour government at all.

Then I suppose it comes down to a personal level, and things people do in their lives that actually make a difference and the reasons why they do it.
Sine 1979 people have voted for whoever they think will make them better off. Forget ethics, better services, fairer society. It's the economy, stupid.
