Millions of public sector workers in England face a pay freeze next year, the BBC has learned.

The 5.5 million affected include key workers lauded for their service during the pandemic, from the armed forces and police, to teachers and civil servants.

Sounds good until you read that armed forces salaries are part of the pay freeze so there will probably be nobody to staff those gargantuan new dreadnoughts

Yebbutt those moaning matelots and squaddies get free clothing and accomodation along with the opportunity to check out early from the shiitshow known as life under Britain Trump's corrupt so-called government. Oh, and any odds on H.M.S. Serco and the Warburton's Regiment, groovers?

1) Squaddies and matelots only get issued with the basics. A lot of the stuff mandated in Dress Regulations has to be bought. Even down to stable belts, rank slides and Tactical Recognition flashes. Not a lot of people know that.

2) Squaddies don't get free accomodation once out of basic training. Matelots get free accommodation when they're at sea (and still have to pay to store all the stuff they can't take on a ship with them). Not a lot of people know that, either.

C) it's more likely to be HMS Babcock, seeing as they've already got their tentacles all over Her Brendaship's Naval Bases and Dockyards.

I didn't know it had gone that far. I take it they can claim it back from HMRC - or is that service only available to Members of Parliament and their chums now?

They can only claim for a few things.

If they can't take a joke they shouldn't have joined.

Don't know if this will lead anywhere.

Precisely nowhere, I'd imagine. Has anything they've done led anywhere?

Not until a government's power and authority evaporates then the favours from the Bill and regulators stop coming in order to please new incumbent masters (if they wish to pursue prosecution). Meanwhile no issue of corruption, lying or bad behaviour will be conceded as most of these deadbeat ministers have a rap sheet (an occasional backbench twerp like Neil Hamilton can be thrown to the lions though). Circle the wagons.

Ian - you must have missed the What'sApp memo -they don't circle the wagons any more, they form a square.

And hope their opponents don't have grape shot...

Time to take the Mailwatch Wagon for another spin:
