Interesting piece in the Grauniad about why Warsi's resignation is important :

It is not often a minister leaves government warning that its actions, or silence, are morally indefensible, not in the national interest, liable to foster terrorism in the UK and undermining British influence in the Middle East by failing to be fair-minded.

The Staggers has run a nice obituary.

Nobody making much of the fact that she was unelected. Dave is just reaping what he's sown, in my opinion.
But regardless of individuals’ opinions of Warsi’s position in the party, they will have to take this situation seriously today. No longer can Cameron accuse Ed Miliband and the Labour party’s criticism of his silence over Gaza as playing politics; someone on his own side has now done far more than that.

Catkins wrote:Harry's Place has completely jumped the shark on this, hosting articles attacking Warsi from both Andrew Pierce at the Mail and Douglas Murray. The decent left, eh?
Harry's Place has long been a haven for right-wing racist loons to be fair. Most of your 'decent left' types abandoned any pretence of leftism a long time ago.

I've no time for Warsi (never elected, yet described here as an MP), but some of the comments under this piece have no place in the country I want to live in.

Baroness Warsi exclusive interview: 'I want to be able to live with myself after politics'

Alec Shelbrooke is a nice chap. Lack of appeal to ethnic minority voters down to Warsi, apparently.

Apparently it was her job to bring communities together. Which it was, and she's not a political Titan. But even if she were, it would be very tough will Crosby and all determined to do the opposite.

I see Pierce has had a second bite of the cherry.

Did hypocrisy cost Sayeeda Warsi a seat as an MP in her home town?

It's just as pathetic as his first attempt as smearing her but he's clearly following orders from above.
