How much time did Leeds comprehensives spend on racism in the 1980s? I can vaguely recall "mad lefty teachers" stories but weren't they generally London? The idea kids couldn't read because they were studying racism instead is like something Shaun Bailey would come out with.

If I were a journo, I'd be phoning up Roundhay Comprehensive pupils and teachers, see what their memories are. Not that it would do Truss any harm at all if she were found to be lying. She'd probably just say "I distinctly remember one (conveniently anonymous or dead) teacher saying that all white people were racist" or something.
