Rudd now promises that all members of the Windrush generation will be granted citizenship at no cost "if they want it". How very gracious of her. I'd have thought that if anyone was a naturalized citizen already, it'd be them.

Her statement in the Commons sounded like a supply teacher who's just been given the rough class on a Friday afternoon.

The Home Office would waive fees, she said, and there would be no requirement for applicants to take a knowledge test on language and life in the UK.
She's 54. FFS! These are people who have lived in the UK longer than she has.

Pathetic. She was pushed to the edge, then she apologised. It reminds me of the Shooting Survivor Student abused by a TV star who apologised after backlash. Only then. He called it out candidly.

What I am curious about is how are they going to square the circle of EU citizens. I should be a UK citizen since 2016 at latest, yet unlawful practices of the Home Office seem to be still on. The investigation is ongoing. The Home Office seems to create the impression of being generous by waving its CSI interpretation... which breaches EU law. Another example of Conservative party's populism.

I can't find a clip of it online, but did anyone else see Lenny Henry referring to the Windrush situation in his speech at the Stephen Lawrence memorial service?

Theresa May was on the front row, and he was addressing her directly for chunks of it. I should imagine she was squirming.

There's only so much sympathy the Mailites are going to show for a bunch of black immigrants. They're starting to get bored now:

ANOTHER government retreat over Windrush: Rudd vows migrants will get UK citizenship 'quickly and at no cost' along with compensation as she fights to cling on to her job

OKAY TO PROCESS PAPERS AND VALIDATE CITIZENSHIP IF APPLICABLE AND IF IT HAS BEEN MERITED. BUT, NO COMPENSATION BECAUSE NOBODY HAS LOST ANY MONEY. THIS COUNTRY NEEDS THAT MONEY WITHIN OUR SERVICES.

So non Windrush applicants get discriminated against and have to pay the fee of £1.500. ..How fair is that?

Sorry, but why didn't these people apply for citizenship years ago?

These people are getting their British passports- they don't deserve compensation, we can't afford it.

Even if the argument had any merit, many have lost money. By being sacked, denied employment and benefits.

Rees Mogg knows who is to blame:
The Windrush issue came about because the state put the interests of the collective ahead of those individuals who had come here perfectly legally prior to 1973, and that it was more convenient for the Home Office to make them prove who they were and show their papers. This is socialism.

Casting my mind back, I think we have seen white victims emerging in the past, Australians and the like. Now that each represents one of the thousand cuts that will ultimately do for Rudd, I can see the Brexit press furiously scrambling round for more to splash.

I mean, we can laugh, but it's a simple and effective trick that will work on a large number of people. Because lefties are the real racists, don't you know?
