The Royal Albert plantation, Scarborough.

Me and a mate once spent half an hour in the pub explaining to a dickhead how Taylor's of Harrogate had their own plantation in North Yorkshire, and he went off convinced Yorkshire Tea really does come from Yorkshire

The government will promise to raise infrastructure spending to its highest in decades in Wednesday's Budget. It will pledge to triple the average net investment made over the last 40 years into rail and road, affordable housing, broadband and research.

If this is the case and it isn't just more sleight of hand, can we have lots of infill railway electrification please? Like we were going to have before your mate George did away with it?

Per The Times, fixing potholes will be in the Budget, and is "levelling up".

Herefordshire is spectacularly bad for potholes. I'd guess it's not the only well-off Tory shire in this situation. But it needs doing and it'll be popular. Fair enough if they can do it efficiently.

Labour was terrifying people with bigger numbers instead of focussing on easily understood deliverables.

I hope they do the one I hit in Bedfordshire that made me stop the car and check the offside road wheels for damage last Sunday... potholes are a damned good excuse for not having very low profile tyres on your jamjar, and at least this one was well out of the path of a cyclist.

Potholes are feckin everywhere. They are bad enough in Brum, lord knows, but in the past few weeks I've been spending time in my home town territory of west central Scotland, and I have to say the pothole problem there is absolutely shocking.
