In 2009 John O'Farrell wrote that the popular narrative was that schools and hospitals were crumbling - everyone knew it - although if asked about their local facilities, people would say that there was nothing wrong with them. It was just all the others, far away.
I think we'll see a reverse of that. No tangible evidence of local improvements, but apparently there's great things going on everywhere else. In Saffron Walden, possibly.
