We're going in circles here, and really the dril tweet summed up my view on this. Interventionalism has been awful on the whole. A few humanitarian efforts don't exclude the blatant scheming by western countries to consolidate power in the middle east/south america and further afield. Blair's a criminal who now makes millions helping dictators improve their image. His credibility is dirt for a reason.

I don’t have an issue with anyone saying Blair took us into an illegal war based on his stupid faith. My issue is twofold: he has said eminently sensible things on Brexit that are ignored that are nothing to do with Iraq, and that Corbyn is held up as being wise and a man of peace in comparison whereas he did what he did because shirking responsibility is what he always does.

Both are flawed. Only one is proposing Labour support hard right Tory policy here and now.

Corbyn isn't supporting a hard brexit. The six tests very clearly lay out limits to Brexit which will result in a soft Brexit at worst. Campaigning for remain/second ref at this stage would be absurd.

Do keep up.

Magic Grandpa dumped the six tests today in favour of a brand new cake recipe :

This is all completely fucking meaningless, you do know that, right?

Fuck me. You can’t possibly still believe this? It’s like denying gravity.

By the way, Winegums, if you think campaigning for a second ref is absurd you'll be fucking furious at the Labour MP who went on Radio 4 this morning saying that if May rejects Labour's offer then labour retains the option of pushing for a people's vote.

Yes, it's that well known centrist melt *checks notes* err...John McDonnell. (But never mind - he redeemed himself afterwards by giving Luciana Berger no support whatsoever)

Still, we're getting off topic as this is the Tony Blair thread. So let's just remind ourselves what the opposite of the current small-minded pettiness looks like, eh?

Really big of Blair to not remove Corbyn. Really cool guy. Utterly irrelevant to the Berger situation because
a) He's never tried to form a split away party
b) He has local support from his CLP

It's a real low-bar to suggest that Blair should be applauded for not being an overly controlling authoritarian in one instance. Especially given how many empty suits he floated in to safe seats during his reign.
