There was a unanimous vote condemning Roger Godsiff and his actions in support of Birmingham school protests at the LGBT Labour AGM today, and calls for Labour to withdraw the whip. Anyone got any views on this male MP's homophobia?

He's a corker:
Wiki wrote:Godsiff also attracted attention in the 2009 parliamentary expenses scandal, where he was reported as using office expenses for extensive roofing work, rewiring, replacement guttering and even clock repair at a property he owns. He incurred the second highest expenses of all 647 MPs' for 2008/2009 with claims for £189,338.

Further controversy followed when he used images of convicted child sex offender and nursery worker Vanessa George in campaign material for the 2010 election, claiming the Liberal Democrats were seeking for "convicted murderers, rapists and paedophiles to be given the vote", which the Lib Dems denied was their policy. The local campaign was later scrapped.

In 2011, The Guardian declared that based on his participation in votes, Godsiff was "Britain's laziest MP", being absent from 88% of votes at the start of that year. He has attended less than 50% of parliamentary debates during his whole time in office and refuses to take any part in hustings meetings. He responded to the Birmingham Mail about his participation, saying "when you are in opposition and the government has a substantial majority, you know perfectly well that you aren't going to be able to have an effect on every vote".

Godsiff opposed marriage equality in 2013, saying that he did not want to "[redefine] the current definition of marriage." In May 2019, in the wake of protests in Birmingham over LGBT-inclusive education in primary schools, Godsiff sided with the protestors: "I have concerns about the age appropriateness of children of four and five being introduced to these ideas", he said, later admitting that he had not read the books. Anderton Park Primary School in Sparkhill, which has been at the centre of the row, is in Godsiff's constituency.

Godsiff has popped up on the Haddock thread a few times. Don't know if he's a Brexiter now but its a safe assumption to guess he is.

He is. But in the classic Godsiff style, he equivocates and triangulates in order to try and appease the majority of his constituents, who voted around 75% Remain, and keep hold of his sinecure (his 2017 majority was a remarkable 24000 (IIRC).

What you need to remember about Roger is that he is an old GMB fixer, who first deployed these skills in engineering his succession to Denis Howell, and has comfortably sailed his way through trigger ballots ever since. In that respect he is like the proverbial cockroach.

I can remember that virtually my entire branch leaflet delivery network refused to deliver his "Lib Dem paedo" leaflet, which was all his own work.

Latterly, he really does seem to be losing his grip. A special all members meeting at which he was required to explain his curious voting patterns in the first "meaningful vote" Brexit debate, saw him give bizarre and contradictory reasoning for his various votes, and his support for these frankly homophobic protests at Anderton Park has enraged members, particularly in the less BAME dominated parts of the constituency.

Moves are almost certainly afoot to try to ensure that he does not sail through another trigger ballot, although he will have secured his muslim base vote and a lot of the affiliated organisations.

I've often complained that Labour aren't doing the necessary preparatory work for government, but now we have this: ... g-britain/

The thing itself: ... e-2019.pdf

Any thoughts?
