The speech was a new low for Corbyn’s reign. Diane has to pretend to be a post colonial patrican Kipper in order to sneak through their real No 1 ambition to leave the SM without having to debate it. Abbot implies Commonwealth citizens are mean spirited and want EU citizens to face the same bureaucratic nightmares that the Tories have imposed on them.

Non-white Britons were, per Ashcroft's polling, much more likely to vote Remain overall than White Britons. Only Sikhs were majority Leave, Asians overall and blacks were strongly Remain.

Of those Brexit voting non-whites, can we really say that sticking it to the Poles was the big motivation? Won't a lot have voted for the same reasons as white Brexiters- sovereignty, Lexit, economy, general protest etc?

Abbot said that Brexit would end this unfairness.

No it shouldn't. If we leave, Freedom of Movement should remain. If it doesn't we'll get a really shit deal and all be poorer.

I actually worry Labour might convince itself it's doing the right thing if it leaves our biggest market and hands out a few more "Commonwealth" visas. Do they really think the sort of people they're running scared of over Brexit aren't going to kick up a fuss when they do that?

Police insp who shopped Diane Abbott for drinking on train faced disciplinary for far-right comments

The retired Met’ Detective Chief Inspector who took a photograph of Diane Abbott MP drinking a mojito on a train was disciplined and forced into early retirement because of his far-right wing posts on social media.

In 2016, DCI Mick Neville faced disciplinary action for homophobic comments and rants about “left-wing idiots” and migrants who have “turned London into a foreign city”.

There are problems here for both sides.

In the red corner, our free and fearless press - bullying one of their usual suspects, when quite frankly there's a lot of bigger news to cover.

In the blue corner, the once revered Diane Abbott, who ought to have learned not to hand a cheap win to the red corner.

I see the phrase 'folk hero' being bandied about...
One can only imagine the delight in the M&S boardroom.

Raise a can to Diane Abbott, a politician who can mix (mojitos) with the people
