Farage can probably feel the momentum draining from Brexit and not detecting much optimism among true believers. Its a foolish gamble to suggest but with recovery in the US and the EU the economy may remain buoyant over the next 18 months.

I'm inclined to think this is simply squirrel stuff.

Nigel's no longer part f the inner circle concerned with making and shaping Brexit.
His main concern will be for his Euro linked pension, his status as a public figure and the stream of income generated by that status.

Does he mean a re-run of the first; simply asking leave/stay, or will it be based on any deal on the table

Nigel Farage has EU salary docked over claim he misspent public funds
Nigel Farage is being docked half his monthly MEP salary after a European parliament investigation alleged he had misspent public funds intended for staffing his office.

The former Ukip leader, who recently bemoaned being “53, separated and skint”, will lose €40,000 (£35,507) in total, the Guardian has learned, after European parliament auditors concluded he had misspent that amount of EU funds.

Financial controllers have been investigating the role of Christopher Adams, who was hired by Farage to work in the European parliament as his assistant.

Auditors suspended Adams’ contract last year, because they were not convinced he was working for Farage on European parliament matters. Although paid as Farage’s assistant, Adams was also the national nominating officer for Ukip, where he was described as one the party’s “key people”.

Our historic Brexit vote could be reversed, admits Nigel Farage
Nigel Farage today makes a dramatic admission that the vote for Brexit could be overturned because Remainers have seized control of the argument over Britain’s future relationship with the EU.

The former Ukip leader told the Observer that he was becoming increasingly worried that the Leave camp had stopped fighting their corner, leaving a well-funded and organised Remain operation free to influence the political and public debate without challenge.

“The Remain side are making all the running,” said Farage. “They have a majority in parliament, and unless we get ourselves organised we could lose the historic victory that was Brexit.”
Farage said he now had a similar feeling to the one he had 20 years ago when Tony Blair appeared to be preparing the country for an eventual entry into the euro. “I think the Leave side is in danger of not even making the argument,” he said. “The Leave groups need to regather and regroup, because Remain is making all the arguments. After we won the referendum, we closed the doors and stopped making the argument.”

Last Monday Farage held a meeting in Brussels with the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, which, he said, left him convinced that the UK would not be offered the kind of deal that would be easy to sell as beneficial to the UK economy unless Leavers upped their game.

Oh dear Nigel has some explaining to do

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... sange-data
Nigel Farage may have given Julian Assange a thumb drive of data and was possibly a more frequent visitor than was publicly known to the Ecuadorian embassy where the WikiLeaks founder lives, according to testimony given to US congressional inquiry into the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to the Kremlin.

Glenn Simpson, a private investigator whose company compiled the controversial dossier alleging a conspiracy between Trump campaign officials and Russian agents, told the House intelligence committee that he was told by an unnamed source that the former Ukip leader had given data to Assange, but had no proof of the exchange.

“I’ve been told and have not confirmed that Nigel Farage had additional trips to the Ecuadoran [sic] Embassy than the one that’s been in the papers and that he provided data to Julian Assange,” Simpson told the committee, according to a transcript released on Thursday.

If I wanted to get a USB memory stick to Assange, I wouldn't use someone as recognisable as Farage as a courier.

In other words, nothing more than hearsay.
Yep. Farage has nothing to explain away, at least not from this story. More likely, he enjoys the attention with the added bonus he can bang on about conspiracies against him/Trump/Brexit.
